My Samsung Instict HD can see my home network, but when I click on it it says connecting for a few minutes and then error (failed to connect to <name>). I exchanged the phone for a new one at Best Buy. The new one connected the first day (yesterday). Symbol was blue and it was also listed on my computer as a wireless device. Everything was working, but today the new phone can't connect to my network. I have it right next to the wireless router; it lists all the information about the network correctly. However, it never connects. It's like it only works when it's brand new, but then it updates all the software/firmware to the latest from Sprint. So, the second day wifi does not work anymore. Maybe it's a bug on the latest software/firmware for the phone?

did you try resetting your router ( should be a reset button on the back )...laptops do this sometimes, wouldn't surprise me that a phone wouldn't experience the same thing...

dunno about you but ive used a macbook, win based laptop, and a desktop with wireless...both with antennas in the back and wired ones you can move around and I haven't had to reset the router (power cycled/restarted....yes) Id say power cycle the router...IF you have to reset the router but you shouldn't have to do that.

Wow, I can't believe that I'm going to say this but I'm with B.  A reset will completely delete all of the settings on the router.  Simply doing a power cycle should work for what he needs...

I always wondered how well these wifi phones can connect to networks. I have a hard of enough time with networking desktops with issues with going from a pc with xp to a pc with vista ect.. My mums laptop I always a pain in the ass to connect, just sometimes randomly you will boot it up and it wont auto connect so you gotta do it yourself and its sometimes wont connect. Back to what I was saying, I always wondered how well these wifi devices can connect to networks, like a Wii or a Xbox 360, seems with those you just plug the damn thing in anywhere and it works no problem. Why cant our desktops work that well?

because 90+% of all desktops are windows based. When it comes to router/pc communicate the problem is almost ALWAYS windows. I can promise you the issue is MICROSOFT-Windows! My sisters Mac doesn't have problems with that. I dont know about the cell phone area, i've never used a cell phone with wifi so I dont know for sure. I do know that on all the macs I have used I haven't had random non connects with the computer/router issue.

I don't have any problems with my MS based PC's.  If you know what you're doing and how to set a network up then you don't have problems most of the time.

Ive set up plenty of networks. Its proven that windows forgets theirs a connection. It happens. You can set up the connection manually and it just forgets sometimes.

I wasnt going to bother saying it but thanks for putting that out there. Thats kinda what I was getting at... And yah MS is to blame but who makes xbox 360 again?

Why the helll does that thing work no problem, oh yah because if it didnt no one would buy it.

Solution, everyone stop buying MS products.
