I saw some laptops at work yesterday that now have multitouch and "expressions" for zooming and stuff like that.  The basic two finger expressions we've all seen on the big touchscreen technology.

K well try this on your instinct. In the messaging menu click and hold one. Move it around a bit. Now take your other finger and put it somewhere else on the screen. Now heres the cool part. Apply different pressure on each finger and keep alternating. It makes you think does it have multi touch

Jcool, I see what your saying but wouldn't the multi-touch function allow you to for instance "grab" one of the messages with one finger and do the same to another message with the other finger?  All it is doing is like someone above stated, finding the average point between the two in a sense.

And once again, the Instinct's resistive touch screen does not allow for multi-touch events. Smiley

There is a difference between true multi-touch processing and the average mathematical calculation processing that our phone does. Average averaged averages.

I find Macs and Apple in general as overpriced and anti open source.  Most of the Mac users I know are brainwashed into thinking that's all there is and there is nothing close to comparable.  Plus, I got a huge discount on the phone and the service 'cause my buddy sells the plans at RadioShack  Cheesy

uhhh Apple isn't the only thing out there. HOWEVER with Apple computers now having NVidia chips in them...the Apple is no longer NOT a gaming computer... I wont start preaching Apple but it is better then windows in more ways then windows is better then Apple! The things i find windows is better then apple in are just things im so used to because ive used windows for 10 years while ive only used apple for months! So dont start dissing Apple "fanboys" because Apple earns fanboys. I hate windows in so many ways and I hate Microsoft even more. IM a gamer and thus i use windows. Like i said tho, with the new NVidia chips i doubt windows will be able to keep me much longer!

And yes Microsoft made multi-touch!

Isn't Unix practically the same as Linux? (haven't had any experience with either)

Linux, Developed by Linus Torvalds, Linux is a product that mimics the form and function of a UNIX system, but is not derived from licensed source code. Rather, it was developed independently; by a group of developers in an informal alliance on the net. A major benefit is that the source code is freely available (under the GNU copyleft), enabling the technically astute to alter and amend the system; it also means that there are many, freely available, utilities and specialist drivers available on the net. Linux is a registered trademark of Linus Torvalds.
So yes but Mac osx is more base on FreeBSD. sorry for the confusion lol

For those of you saying resistive screens can't do multitouch and that's why the instinct can't have multitouch.. this is in fact wrong.

It used to be true.  But breakthroughs have been made since then to enable multitouch on resistive screens.
