I was just scrolling using the built in browser with one finger. Then I tried with both fingers at the same time in opposite directions... and the screen moved a bit but stayed in the center.

To clarify if you put both fingers on the screen and just move one up or down the screen scrolled. if you mover the other finger up or down it also scrolled. Now if you mover both fingers at the same time in the opposite direction, the screen didn't scroll in either direction. It shook a bit, but remained in relatively the same spot! (also works in the contacts screen)

Maybe one day soon with some luck we will be able to zoom in and out like the iPhone does!

If this was already posted I'm sorry!!!

I don't think its quite multi touch, if you put both fingers down at the same time, the phone wont know which finger to follow...its kinda confused, would explain the non-movement

I do believe multi-touch would also raise some important copyright isses as well as possible infringement.

The multi-touch aspect for the Instinct could be done but every one of the applications that have been written would more than likely have to be rewritten to either take advantage of the multi-touch or block it out; which I don't think would be possible. I think multi-touch can be done, but how important is it really? No other phone besides the iPhone has multi-touch yet, except for the newer WM7 phones slated for later release either this year or next.

I think it's just selecting the different movements and picking up skips and stuff.

One way to confirm this is just hold down anywhere and move the other finger around and nothing happens. As soon as you lift the other finger it picks up the moving one.

It wouldn't violate copyright because as much as apple like to ballyhoo multitouch.. it was invented by Microsoft Smiley

This is very good to know. Now I'm inclined to think Apple's is only slightly different... Even though multi-touch isn't possible I'd like to see it in a future release Smiley

While multi-touch would be nice, I'm afraid we don't have the hardware for it.  Our phones use a "resistive" touchscreen, while the iphone uses a "capacative" -

http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Article-Touchscreen-technologies-in-phones-article-a_3067-p_2.html

As the article states, one of the disadvantages of the resistive touchscreen is it's inability to report more than one touch at a time.

And that was a wicked video of the surface computer Cool

Like most one touch screens, if there are two points touching, it takes the average of the two (the center point).  The same thing happens on the touchpad on a laptop

I find Macs and Apple in general as overpriced and anti open source.  Most of the Mac users I know are brainwashed into thinking that's all there is and there is nothing close to comparable.  Plus, I got a huge discount on the phone and the service 'cause my buddy sells the plans at RadioShack  Cheesy
