Instinct screen auto-flip

I could have sworn that screen adjusted when you want from horizontal to vertical.... does it where is the option for it.

no not the original (M800) or the S30 (M810), only the Instinct HD (M850) has an accelerometer. any screen switching involves pressing a button. sorry you have misunderstood.

And to further elaborate on that, some apps (native browser, Sprint TV, radio, etc) default to the horizontal (landscape) mode when opened. Dale is right, only the HD has an accelerometer that can detect the orientation of the phone.
