Sometimes I can text smoothly and the only mistakes are words with no punctuation like "dont".

Other days the whole screen is red and horrid. Then, I cant pinpoint the cursor in the right spot..

It makes me miss texting on my Treo.

The other day I thought it would be smart to calibrate the touch screen, but it changed everything, and I got it to be slightly back to how it was but honestly, its not the same. I'll press the 'P' and it will somehow hit the 'text entry method' button above it. Everything is a mess now.  Cry

Did you use the stylus when you recalibrated?  That will produce the best results.

*And, what do you have your sensitivity set on?

re calabrate with stylist and scratches on screen can effect performance. if you dont have a stylist use a finger that has a good nail (try not to bite them) do not use a pen or pencle they can scratch the screen mine has some scratches, most may call it alot but my performance is up there just some touch issues when my gf took my stylist for 2 days...

I've never used the stylus...ever.

Be careful and don't have fat fingers...lol. Seriously, it's a touch screen...it's only as accurate as you are.

does anyone ever have problems with clicking on a form field on a website or app? i installed pandora and it absolutely will not let me enter in my email and password so it's basically useless. Sad do you think there's something wrong w my actual phone?

is your screen  real scratched up, this can produce a bad touch one time after I dropped mine it was like I was doing everything upsidedown then it kept freezeing so I got a replacement phone from sprint (another instinct) and now its working perfectly, just had a little trouble with the data at first  they charged me when I have unlimited -.-..

My fingers are fat and for the most part, I can use the touch screen just fine. I do hit the wrong key on the QWERTY board at times, though.

To the guy with the Pandora problem, ya gotta use the keyboard it gives you at the bottom half of the phone. Its gay, I know. It took me like ten minutes of cursing at the phone to figure it out.

The stylus that comes with the phone (didn't know it had one til the second day I had it, which was yesterday, lol) is kinda worthless to me because its kinda small and I feel like I'm gonna break it with my massive hand... I end up just using a retractable ball point pen (Pilot G2 works great), so as not to mar the screen.

I have large hands and had a good bit of trouble with the touch screen when I purchased the instinct in Dec. I was making a lot of mistakes even after txting for several weeks.

I re-calibrated and that helped. I few weeks later I re-calibrated using the stylus and that actually made things worse -- using the stylus to calibrate seemed to require me to be more exact when I pressing the 'keys'... this led to even more errors.

Then I had the thought that if the calibration was that sensitive, that maybe if I turned the phone to landscape (which is how I type) and used the left thumb for the left-side calibration and the right thumb for right-side -- mimicking how I type -- maybe that would help. And that certainly did the trick! My errors went way down.

I have the S30 and have been having a very difficult time typing simple text messages.  I am glad I am not an everyday texter because this is a big step back from the moto q that I upgraded from.  Anyway, I tried the calibration method that lunaticprophet has suggested, and we will see if that works better for me.  I tried three times to type out a sentence with no errors, and I was successful on my last attempt.  And that was the only sentence that I was able to type with this keyboard that did not have any errors...
