Thanks for all the brilliant responses.

I can see how helpful this forum will be.

Do people really have nothing better to do than b**ch about politics? ALL politicians are idiots. Period. The end. Get a life. Or better yet, do something about it.

Wow.
Wow is right. It seems like you were waiting for someone to make one political comment so you could "pounce". There is lots of help to be had on this forum but with that you have to accept that we also like to have a little fun every now and again. Good luck with calibrating your phone. Perhaps, these touchscreens just go out over time.....incentive to buy a new phone....

I have the same problem. I do not want to have my instinct replaced because I have a nice screen protector.

That and they would give you a refurbished phone which could just have another problem!

Well I got a 2nd refurb, the 1st one had defective calibration, this new one is perfect out the box, I wont even mess with the calibration, I was also able to use the same I-shield, looks pretty good.

My original concern with a refurb was losing all my data, thing is you can recover that stuff quickly, my new (2nd refurb) phone was like my old in a few hours. My advise, refurb while u still can.

It's not stuck on the phone permanately, I pulled it off slow and used a bit of the spray to wipe the fingerprints, It had more air bubbles this time but they dissapeared a few days later.

The good thing is I-shield will send you a new one if you register the product at their website. Just mail back the old one, lifetime guarantee. I've gotten 3 the past year.

Well I took the phone into Sprint and they told me I was 4 days past the warranty. Of course. But the manager at my store was pretty cool and said since I had been having the problem for a while, he's replace it. The new phone doesn't seem to have any problem. The store manager said this isn't the first time he's seen this happen to the 1st gen Instincts, and I live in a pretty small city.

f3justusc - I wasn't waiting, or trolling by any means. I asked a question and the only responses I got were bulls*** banter about something not related to this forum at all. Again, I get really tired of 85% of my threads turning to politics etc. I replied in a very blunt way, mostly because this was my first thread on a new forum, and I was already seeing that kind of behavior and it really irritated me.

I do appreciate the people who responded with theories or suggestions, I'm not really that much of an ass, it was just a button that got pushed one too many times.

I had the same problem with my Instinct not calibrating. I took it to a Sprint Service Center and my phone was replaced with an Instinct S30. The S30 is a different phone and even though it fits the hand nicely it is not as good as the original Instinct. It has taken me months to get used to the S30. So all in all you should read the S30 section of this forum to get an idea if the S30 is worth a swap for your original Instinct. You may trade one hassle for another.

I had a major problem with it where it would not stay on the 'main' tab, everytime i clicked it, it would return itself to the 'fun' tab as though i had touched that tab. i couldn't calibrate either. sprint was little to no help. so, i came home. dismantled and thoroughly cleaned the inside including the lcd. for the most part it has worked well. only needing to recalibrate occasionally.
