Are we talking about clicking the button quickly, then sliding to unlock like the iphone/touch?

I haven't thought that far through yet, just playing with ideas in my head.

I'd volunteer to do your job HagNDaz, but I worked on a competition for my school that involved intense Microsoft XNA programming for the XBox, and I had my fill.

I always wanted a job in gaming.  I had a few interviews with THQ, Epic, and 2K Sports, but these days most of the fun work is done with designers and modelers.  I wasn't strong enough in physics for the positions.  The majority of positions in the gaming industry these days are mostly physics engines and internal tools for development.

Don't know what the crap you're talking about.  HTC, WTH?  Instinct is a Samsung device.  Although I do think slide to unlock would be nice.

HTC and Samsung are too different companies, if any company would be working with Sprint to implement that feature in to the instinct it wont be HTC.

How is this possible? Shocked
HTC makes products with winmo.
Instinct's OS is far from anything WINMO.

instead of the slide to unlock they should do that u only tapped the unlock button and its is unlocked.

i don't think that you can accidentally push that button. its pretty hard to press.

Not excited but relieved, "bigger" issues notwithstanding. I hate keyguards, and the first thing I do with any new phone is disable them. I'm willing to accept making an accidental call once every few weeks to avoid having to unintuitively hold down the power button just to use the phone. I often inadvertently power off the Instinct but holding down the power button a split second longer than required -- something I'll eventually adjust to, but an issue I'd rather avoid altogether.

Exactly. It's positioned on top of the device and requires more pressure than an accidental brush against pocket lining. And the fact that the screen is powered off means that there are no active buttons on the front face to accidentally set off when not in use.

This feature would not work as well on the Instinct as it does on the Iphone since the screen technologies are very different.  The Iphone uses a capacitive screen and the Instinct uses a resistive touchscreen.

This means that anything touching or applying some pressure to the Instinct screen will power up, so if my instinct is in pocket any wrong move and my screen lights ups waiting for me to slide unlock thus killing my battery.  This is one of the reasons Apple choose to use the more expensive capacitive screen technology.  It is much more difficult to accidentally power on the Iphone screen.

I do however like the idea of making the power button a tap rather than a hold.

I think the hold is alot better, seeing that the phones screen is pressure sensitive you would probably ass dial the world, what would be cool is you write the letter "U" on the screen with your finger to unlock it instead of the iphones slide to unlock
