Received an e-mail yesterday from ScanLife that there app. is now available for the Instinct.
Just type http://www.getscanlife.com  in your mobile browser and it will automatically
get you to the download link for Instinct.  Works great.  Now we can read 2D Barcodes.

If you want more information on Scanlife, check out their website at http://scanlife.com/index.html.

pretty cool, just used some of their examples on their site to try it out.  Shame you can't get it to take you to OperaMini instead of the Instinct browser, but other than that I really like it!

Nice find, but without the "EZ codes", I don't think it will be to useful.  Maybe they'll add support for barcodes later on.  It's similar to Snapnow, but snap now doesn't need a code.  You just take a picture of something and send it, then they send you info on it.  Here's the discussion on it.

This downloads and all, but freezes when the download is complete.  My phone reboots and it's not installed.  I currently have the policy hack so I'm wondering if that is causing a problem with the Sprint-certified app?  Any ideas or anyone else having the same problem?

Take a pciture of the 2D Codes on this page, and see if it doesn't work for you. This Application does not yet work on the Barcodes on products you, no doubt, have in your home (e.g. any consumer product like Campbells Soup).

Me neither and I am trying it on the special 2d codes that are on their  website.  I get this message:

Decoding...
Not decoded. try again

The scanlife user guide says to position the phone such that the ezcode barcode fills about half the box. Experimenting with printed and screen copies of the sample codes on the scanlife web site, I found that that is correct. With the image just over half the box the scan worked. I was never able to get a good decode with the box full.

That is counter to what you would expect, but that is the way it works. Maybe it need enough blank space around the image to calibrate the decode.
