Why does this show that the instinct supports JAVA but the reviews say that web browsing does not support it.  Somebody that understands please explain.

Java is a programing language that is much like the Windows OS or the Mac OS and is meant for devices like phones and theoretically computers.

JavaSCRPIT is a web language that is understood by (some) web browsers.

The instinct runs an operating system based on Java, with a fancy user interface over top of the OS to make everything look pretty.

okay thanks for clearing it up.  So to correct the java browser issue it is only a matter of Sprint to modify the browser or maybe a third party app?

ANybody got any good tutorials online for how to create java script?  I got a pretty good idea for the structure of a thing for AOL Instant Messanger.

I got a programming guy, but I'm pretty sure if we get a good tutorial, we can figure out a way to make a quick prototype.

PLEASE RESPOND.

If I win, I'll pay half of everyone major poster's Instinct cost... I swear

Im pretty sure an aol instant messenger wont win you the prize because they will most likely have this available on their own as its one of the easier things to do. Aside from that im pretty sure you need to know how to use java not javascript.

I have some programming knowledge (C++) but it is not that extensive.  Just a few classes in high school and one class in college.

I understand that the biggest concerns for this phone is:

1.) Instant Messenger
2.) Web Browser

I know that making a web browser similar to the iPhone would be the ideal browser.  So the idea is already there, someone just has to be sweet at programming.  What I'm saying is:  there's not much creativity in creating a web browser.  The ultimate web browser would be like a normal PC's web browser.

The instant messenging on the other hand, could still be disasterous.  If you've ever used AIM on a regular phone, you would realize that it's not that great.  I have a pretty cool idea for the interface of the AIM, because there are definitely going to be people making AIM applications... but my idea will be the most user-friendly.

So how can you teach me "loves instinct"?
