Any updates on a hack to make OM the default browser? Also my software version on my phone is CA10, is this suffient for the smooth operation of 4.2? I've attempted several times to update the software through my phone, it says "Software updated'. Any suggestions?

CA10 is the latest firmware/software for your phone. As for making OM the default browser (even with a hack), forget it....it cant and wont be done. The stock browser is intertwined with the operating system and functions as a gateway to downloads etc.

Thanks Troyboytn...yeah that's it...drive that stake deep Cry

Where do you fall in the OM versus Bolt browser debate? I was considering DLing Bolt and trying it out, is it worth it?

Try it.  It's pretty nice.

Darn, I too was searching here in hopes that there was a way to set Opera Mini as the default. My complaint is, when I click certain links from within OM, specifically downloads/installs, it will open the default browser for that, and then I can't easily close the default to get right back to OM. Instead I have to click Home, then go back and select OM manually again, which just opens a new OM instead of bringing up the old.

Is there a way to close the default browser and get back to an open OM window, and right now doing it the way I am, is it somehow actually opening a second OM while the other is still running on the phone? I hate to imagine multiple instances running for no good reason.

I've only been on these forums for a few days, and already I find it to be a fantastic resource! Thanks everyone!

OM can download directly to you SD card if you do the "_policy.txt" hack and the reinstall OM.

Isn't there a chance of bricking the phone doing the policy.txt hack? If so, I definitely don't want to mess with that, because I just got the phone, and didn't take out the extra insurance.

I really like them both (opera/bolt) and would actually prefer bolt "if" it could be viewed in landscape mode. UCweb is also a good browser. Opera and UCweb can download songs/pics to the SD card with the policy.txt hack, but will never be able to download and install actual apps to the phone, etc. There is always a chance of bricking the phone when changing files as with the policy.txt. However, I believe that the only known true risk of bricking is by uninstalling Google Maps with the hack in place. So, just be careful with this in general.

You need to make sure you have the latest software updates.  Goto main>settings>general>update software.  The latest version is CA10.  You can find which version you have in general>phone information.

You might.  I can't remember.  Either way, it won't hurt.
