Good question, I don't think anyone know that yet... just have to wait and see.

Slingbox is a must for me as I use it on my HTC Touch when I travel...it's the coolest software until my wife changes the channel on me at home when I trying to watch something Undecided

It all depends on your location.  I travel by myself around KY and I usually watch it while eating dinner or when I have downtime.  I sometimes watch it while driving...Is that legal?  lol.

My service is through Sprint so they usually have excellent service around KY; however, there are somtimes it lags.  You have to remember, you are streaming (mine is Direct TV) live TV; therefore, it's not always perfect.  I have been hooked on it for about 3 years and I highly recommend yet - make sure you have a data plan!

Good luck.

Ive seen the slingbox on a laptop only, but the quality was fantastic. I just cant really justify the money for it. I dont need the TV that much. although it would be nice to get Redwing games in Ohio

Recent Slingbox owner here too. I've been curious about this as well -- from what I've read in the SlingPlayer Mobile specs, it doesn't look good. Instinct doesn't run on any of the back-ends... Windows Mobile, Palm OS or Symbian cell phones and PDAs. (And back in January, they announced a BlackBerry version in development)

I believe Instinct needs some type of OS before Sling can develop a player....
Sling has worked great on my pocket pc and now treo for almost two years,
the lack of this capability on the new Instinct has me on the fence( my sprint
contract up in august)

whats going on everybody... well i have an htc touch with the sling, it works great and it does the job... sling on the instinct was one of my first worries about getting the phone, i spent some good money to get sling, regardless i am still getting the instinct but hopefully they come out with the software soon, cuz its a must for me, but u know how it is, everything takes time when a phone first comes out

I have been a user of the Palm 700p for quite a while and am a little 'gunshy' of the Instinct.  Even though I want one bad.  DOES it accept 3rd party software like on my Palm...ie Carmater, Monopoly, Bible, SpalashID, etc?  I HATE to lose these programs because I use them all the time.

2nd question.  I know this is a new phone, but how about Slingbox capabilities?  I have it running on the Treo 700p now and would hate to lose this GREAT feature.

If anyone has any insight on this, please let me know.

Thanks.

Hi, wxman. The Instinct runs off of a Java/Brew framework -- it is unlike the Palm or Windows OS. As a result, at this time, there does not appear to be any likelihood of running things built for these other frameworks. In my option, your best bet might be to hold off for a short bit and see what those of us who picked the phone up already are able to come up with, hack, or identify 3rd party options for.

Thanks.  Yea, I figured that.  It's hard to give up something that has worked so well for you in the past and NOT knowing if it'll work on a different phone.  I hate to 'gamble' and not have these programs....which, your right, I don't think it would.  Palm based 3rd party software can NOT work with this phone..................and I'm sure Slingbox IS questionable at this time also....

I think that Sprint will come out with some software soon because they have all the demo games on the phone but they aren't listed on the sprint site for sale.  For instance, I had midnight bowling on my cnetro and when i went to download it from my content manager, it told me it wasn't compatible so i put in for a refund and said it wasn't working properly.  So again, I think they will come with something soon cuz it would be a true waste to have such a slick phone with no bells and whistles to add.

I hope they release a slingbox mobile compatible with the instinct, but unless samsung releases other phones with the same platform, I seriously doubt slingbox will spend the time... not enough money potential...
