I got my e-mail configured, but it is pulling the message from the server without leaving a copy.  I use my desktop computer at work as my main computer and it is where I use Outlook.  I use a laptop and previously used my old Treo 650 to pull down a "copy" while travelling, and then file e-mails on the desktop at the office when I get back (since there was still a copy on the main server).  Is there a setting somewhere in the e-mail setup that I missed that tells the instinct to leave a copy on the server?

I haven't seen that option in any of the email accounts I've configured yet (POP3 and Work). I've been configging and re-configging trying to get the ability to reply to POP3 email to go through, but that's not an option with the current build, it appears. There might have been a setting in your Treo setup that is just not replicated in what's on the Instinct right now. There is another thread relating to POP3, take a look at it for the comparison to the settings available on the Mogul.

I called and asked this question... It's kind of scary when you call tech support and you know way more than they do about their product...  As of now, they have no support for "leave a copy on the server".  My fix (until they pull their head out) is to set up another pop email account just for the phone, and autoforward all messages to that account so that the phone and computers each receive a copy of all messages.... Hope it helps...

I used a Verizon POP3 E-mail and sent it to 2 of my E-mails on the Instinct ( Hotmail and another Verizon POP3)

They both came through with no problem.

I replyed useing the POP3 and it went right through in seconds.

I replyed with the Hotmail and it gave me an Error can't send.  But it still showed up in a few seconds in my Inbox. So it errored out but still sent .

As for the server issue yes no work around but I use MSN Preier for all my E-mail accounts and that saves a file so it doesn't matter what happens on the phone or server from the looks of things

You guys scared me for a second. Immediatly after reading this thread I checked my email and it was all there. However, if you delete the email from your phone I am pretty certain that it also deletes it from the mail server.

Hey guys this is my first post and i have only had the phone for 3 days so far. My thing is that I have comcast.net mail through my cable company and i found what the POP3 settings are and try to put them in the instinct but it just gives me this

Notice
Unable to connect to the server. Please check your connection and try again. (S7122)

Kind of frustrating. For some reason i think email on this thing is going to be very touchy.

Also definitely PO'd that there is no IM client on this phone. Im sure one will be developed but it would have been smart on sprints part to have one available when the phone was released.

UPDATE::!!!
I figured out that when I set up my email servers i assumed that the phone would get the settings itself. I was wrong for the incoming and outgoing mail server it would just fill in the comcast.net part, i needed to change incoming to MAIL.COMCAST.NET and outgoing to SMTP.COMCAST.NET.

no biggie. still no update on the im situation ill let yalls know

LT1Firebird, you should take a look at this thread too. You might run into the same issue we have when trying to send outgoing mail from your POP3 account (and the problem is that you can't right now). Incoming is good, outgoing is not.
