I've got the same problem, it actually doesn't seem like it is freezing, it just doesn't recognize the screen when you try to scroll down.

I cannot get it to scroll in order to aceept the terms and conditions.  The screen won't scroll.  The tiny scroll bar on the right won't respond either.

We need to contact Google and let them know about this problem on the Instinct.  It's likely the application is not yet compatible with the Instinct.

I think you have to enable your browser in mobile mode and then download Google maps and it should install. But I heard that there is no keyboard input and there is no GPS integration so it is much less useful. Time for Sprint to send some Instinct phones to Google developers so they can port Google maps to Instinct with actual GPS integration.

I downloaded it Saturday and it worked fine.  But Sunday it started giving a null error and freezes during startup.

I finally got Google Maps to work.  I don't know why the accept/decline button was not showing up previously.  Anyway, it got installed, but if you click on the "Search" button, it will freeze on the screen to enter your search.  I have not been able to do a search.  I'm not sure Google Maps are that essential for now.  With the awesome GPS app included in the Instinct, I've got what I need for now.

Can someone explain to me why everyone seems to want google maps?
I understand, google is a deity of information technology world (Smiley), but navigation software that comes with instinct is awesome.
Am I missing something?

The satellite view is pretty sweet... especially with gps activated.  I'm sure google will release an instinct version.  I wouldn't use if for navigation, but it still would be cool to have.

Works great except the search function won't let you display a keyboard to type in text.  You can drag the map and get great views.

Well I don't know how it will work on the instinct, but on my other phone, it seemed to be faster then telnav is here.
It might be the hardware in this case.  Not only that, but the satelitte views can be very useful in certain cases. It's one of those things like syncing a calendar, some people think it's pretty useless, some people think it's the most important thing on their phone.  Just depends on your needs.
So far, I liked my google maps better then the telenav.

the statement from google's site when I tried to reinstal was, "this program will not work on your phone."  Take the issue to the people that write the code... go to the forum and let the programmers know we want this app.  It will greatly reduce the time it takes for Google to get it to market if they know there is one already.
