Hey yall,

I was one of those unfortunates who bricked there phone when removing one of versions of GoogeMaps while having the policy hack in place. (phone was replaced for free)

anyway... i might be in the same situation again.
Got the new phone did all the updates and the policy hack then Installed GoogleMaps 2.20 from their website. Works fine.

I recently Updated to the CD17 firmware with the policy hack in place.

Will I run into problems when trying to upgrade to a newer version of GM.
Should I delete the current version or let it be overwritten?
Should I remove / repair Policy.txt first?

Thanks,
Leviathsin

I also bricked my phone prior to CD17 trying to erase Google Maps with the policy hack in place but was able to unbrick.  I updated to the 2.3.2 verson with the Getjar code that Sarge posted and it works, but is pretty laggy on my phone. I have both policy hacks and the Dev Root. I was able to erase 2.3.2 without bricking. Since our phones don't seem to have enough memory for streetview anyway, I will probably stick with 2.2 but I hope this answers your question and works for you!

Edit: I overwrote 2.2 and left the policy hacks as-is before updating to 2.3.2 and have the CD17 update.

HAHAHA IF ANYONE who will ever search for an answer to their question....and does NOT want to use the Green search button...try searching all the forums for it...use logic tho...like my question was "Should i try to get version 2.3.2 on my phone...and will it run smoothly?" I SEARCHED THE FORUMS MANUALLY using LOGIC such as: "If Google maps is a third party app it will be in the third party apps section" and ooh i like this one "Since it IS a third party app Ill click on the topic of ""Google Maps"" What i did was clicked the last page and BAM!!!!! My answer was right there! Thanks Deb you get a cookie! I still might try 2.3.2 but since Deb says its pretty laggy (I have the MR6/ CD17 update) i may not bother... Thanks

I don't mean to be an a**.  Google maps is cool and all, but why bother when we have Telenav GPS installed on our phones?  Am I missing something?  Please advise.  Thanks.
The main reason alot of people are using Google Maps is two fold, 1)Google Latitude, you have to have Google Maps to use Latitude. This was not workikng on the instinct for a long time because the GPS was not accessable by third party software. This has changed due to the latest update. 2) Its Google and they rock

Right now the google maps version that m30 has access to, doesn't has my location option avaliable. This and  the abillity to use Latitude, are the items many people with an Instint want to use.

Policy hack is no longer needed since the last update.

hey guys! I'm sorry if this is answered somewhere, i checked the search feature and most of this forum.

i have the m800, and got google maps versions 2.3.2 from getjar, but it doesn't work. can anyone point me in the direction of a newer/older version that is compatible with the m800? again, my sincerest appologies if this is answered elsewhere - I'm finding it a bit difficult to find recent posts for the things I'm looking for (I'm new to trying to pimp out my instinct, seems as though most of yous have been doing this for months if not years!)

I've got 2.3.2 on mine and it works just fine.  Got it from getjar.
