do you have the m800, as well?

I keep getting the issue of not being able to get past the terms and conditions (touch screen will not enable)

Yep.  M800.  I'm a US Sprint user.  Are you with Sprint?

okay, so I downloaded mobile gmaps - not sure if it's any good, but is there a way to stop it from asking to "allow access to the network" like 50 times?

You need to download and install BitPim (lots of help online here for it) and then follow http://www.instinct-samsung.com/index.php?topic=10783.0 to modify the permissions file for it. This is necessary both to have it stop asking for the internet every 10 seconds, and to access the GPS. It is not the most user friendly program ever, but with the mods, it does work...

Hey guys, got a question

I saw on getjar they have Google Maps Version 3 for mobile featuring Latitude. says last updated June 3, 2009
Also I am with Sprint.

1. has anyone used tried this ?

heres my prob. A while back i bricked my phone because of the Policy Hack and google map problem when you tried to overite it. I think it was version 2.3.2 not sure though.
so now i have a new phone with the policy hack and google maps 2.2.0 and it works fine.
So.... does anyone think i am looking at the same senario if it try and update to the new version. Are there any problems if I just delete the 2.2 version?

Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks

no problems at all. dont d/l it from m.google.com i tried the same and it wont work. download the one from wap.getjar.com--> quick download--> enter 36398--> download. hope this helps. i know this download works amazingly for me!!

Hey sargesmoke,  you wouldn't happen to have a copy of that particular version of google maps would you?  I had it up and running for some time, however just recently it quit working (the google maps program would freeze on the loading screen).  Now the wap.getjar.com ->36398 is no longer found and the current version on that site is not a touchscreen friendly version!

Being able to use google maps was basically the shining gem of this phone.  Can you help me?

I've tried other versions of the 2.3.2  .... ts  ...jar, and I can get past the terms screen only to get stuck at the street view splash screen (common problem it seems).

And if anyone wants to know why you'd use google over the built in gps, it's because in Canada we have to pay $3.50/day or $8/month to use the telenav...even with unlimited data plans, ridiculous!

Thanks.

Interesting. I have the Google Maps 2.3.2 and it still works. I'm with Bell and in Canada (obviously). After reading some of your posts, I'm curious as to why it's not working for some of you (I guess...for those who are in Canada Tongue).

Saiya_Jin, I had google working very nicely until one day the initial load bar wouldn't get all the way to the end and if I waited long enough I would get a java error and the app would exit.

Does anyone know if there is a way you can back-up the app off of your phone and reinstall it on another phone?
