There is no streetview for instinct at this time.  The version of google maps with streetview is incompatible.

I just did the policy.txt modification and it fully works with Opera, but I can't find an option on Google Maps for GPS to try it out.

The only google maps that works with the instinct, with or WITHOUT the policy mod, is v 1.X

v2.x is the one with the gps options

Ok. I've done some searching and finally found a working Google Maps .jar file.

Open wap.GetJar.com with your mobile -> Quick Download -> enter Quick Download Code 36398

The file is JAR file (gmaps-220-m2_ts_L1.jar) Size: 464.18 Kb

yeah, you did some searching and found my post on BAW where I first posted this info after a couple of hours of hunting down the correct file. Let's give credit where credit's due, hmm?

I don't mean to be an a**.  Google maps is cool and all, but why bother when we have Telenav GPS installed on our phones?  Am I missing something?  Please advise.  Thanks.

Well... Telenav is nice, but it costs 8$ a month, not a HUGE deal, but if I have unlimited mobile browsing, and google maps actually worked; properly with a virtual keyboard etc... I would essentially have a more uselful telenav, for free that gets regular updates.  A lot of people already have Nav systems in their cars, I do, so the nav in the phone is redundant. Google maps is faster and easier for quick directions while walking or in a nav-less car.

One could speculate that they purposefully make it difficult to run google maps so that people would be cornered into buying the telenav service.

With Sprint the Telenav Navigation comes included with the mandatory Everything Plan. We don't pay extra for it.

We want Gmaps for street view. Otherwise it's just us wanting the option of using it.

My annoyance with google maps is the home location. Everytime I open it up it starts in Sacramento California. Thats um... 3000 miles away.

Great post guys, thanks for all your work! Have 2.2.0 working fine with the exception of the permission setting. I tried to change the permission settings but I don't have an "always allow" option under the permission settings...all I see is Ask Each Time or Never Allow.

Running on the Bell network so I presume this is just the way the last update left this? Program works fine but every time you  move or zoom in or out then you have to allow it to access the network...annoying but I'm not complaining! Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem. Thanks, still happy to have it working!

Easy to fix.Find a location of your preference and assign it to the #1 slot in your  google maps favorites. The next time you open GM it will start there.  Wink

Otherwise, if you've done the policy mod/developer root check out Mobile GMaps...GPS works fully, and they have a Sat/Map Hybrid view that is just stellar!

I know that this is the Google Maps thread, but it's KINDA google maps...just absolutely no affiliation with Google whatsoever.
