Good evening Instinct users that have been waiting for a golf gps!  Cheesy  I just rec'd the following email from FreeCaddie and I loaded it and it worked.  I have not gone to a course yet to see it in action, but it asks for permission to access GPS and as far as I can tell, it should be good to go.  Cool

You are receiving this email because you inquired about the status of FreeCaddie for the Samsung Instinct. A new version of FreeCaddie has just been posted (version 0.8.6). It has two changes which may help with the non-responsive screen. You can find the new release on this page:

http://freecaddie.com/Java/default.aspx

Links to the files (JAR is probably adequate):

http://freecaddie.com/Software/FreeCaddie086.jad
http://freecaddie.com/Software/FreeCaddie086.jar

Hopefully this resolves the issue. Thanks for your interest in FreeCaddie!

Dave

This will be a plus if it works.  Keep in mind you might have to start the Sprint navigation first to get the gps up and running.  Exit it with the home button, then start free caddie.
Keep us posted, okay?

Can anyone get this to download?  I keep getting a 909 "Application Authentication Failure" error.

Do you have the CD-17 update or policy hack in order to install?  Or can I install it without either of those?

I do have the CD-17 update, so I would say that might be a requirement.

I installed the app on my phone.  At the very start up of the app it says the model number of the phone.  I hit the ok button, let it search for golf courses, let the phone go black, turn the phone back on and got the uncaught exception.  This was the same deal with the last version.  This would be a really cool app if it would work.
