As I type this I am backing up the file structure of the Insting using version 1.0.6 of BitPim. I used other CDMA phone, and I believe it found the phone on USB 3. I made sure to check mark the top box so that things wouldn't be accidently written to the phone -- force a read only.

At first I thought that I didn't have anything, but when I went to view, and clicked on View Filesystem, I could see the file system, and back it up.

I did it the exact same way.. unplugged it and the phone did a hard reset Sad

Ditto here, lost all of my favorites, all of my java games I had downloaded but at least the contacts came back thanks to mobile sync!
Letest test version of Bitpim and tried both ways ##usb# no joy...
