I'm sorry I spent extra money to get a phone that was more than just a phone and the salesman said their going to release apps for the instinct in a few weeks, and nothing months later, don't get me wrong I like the phone but for a smart phone this thing does nothing compared to the others, I know there a few thing out there and it can send pics but that is only about 5% of what the Iphone and blackberry will do, I wish sprint would get there act together and get us some apps, I still think the instinct is a better deal and in my price range where the Iphone and blackberry storm are not, I just want to be able to add functions I'm tired of seeing all the stuff the others can do i.e. the new music app. that identifies songs by hearing them. we need to start yelling at sprint.   Please don't tell me to buy the one of those phones we heard that before I love my instinct just want it to do some of those things to and I'm tired of waiting, Just needed to vent thats what this section is for, no b****ing at me for getting this off my chest I'm not attacking anyones opinion so don't start whining about mine.

Unfortunately, all the things you've expressed that you don't want to hear are exactly the answers to your complaints. Face it, what we have is a "feature phone".  Here is a great definition at phonescoop.com:

http://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?gid=310

While it may have been ambitiously (read: falsely) touted as a true competitor to devices like the iPhone and the G1 (though I doubt Sprint/Sammy were taking aim at RIM or HTC), the truth is this phone was never intended to be a belt-clip computer. A jack of all trades, but a master of none is its destiny. While I wouldn't go as far as to call our beloved phone a "gimmick" per se, it's purpose in life is that of a feature phone; something that can perform a few tricks and draw customers.

Sorry, man. I don't know what to tell you. If you are looking for an actual, honest-to-goodness smartphone, then (to quote/paraphrase Obi Wan) "This is not the phone you seek."

No rant, no b*tching. Just truth. Smiley

Your right, we need apps...but 5%?...I don't know about that...won't be long, 2 browsers won't be enough either...and any apps that do come to the front won't be good enough either....2 year old iphone die hards want our features...Instinct die hards want iphone features....some things never change

REMEMBER I DO LOVE MY PHONE, just realy want some apps. the others have a long list of them compaired to the instinct I would say 5% is a fair number count them if you like but I'm not that far off.

What apps are you talking about? what do you need that the Iphone has or a blackberry that our phone doesnt have? Other than streaming stock quotes and mircosoft exchange. And have you been to the I phone apps store its nothing but fluff and if you want a phone with alot of apps I would tell you to get a phone running windows which offer tons more apps than a blackberry or an iphone and is much more open source. And its hard to compare the instinct with the iphone when it comes to apps, the iphone didnt get an apps store until almost two years after it launched while the instincts been out only months. Again check out the apps store and you'll see theirs nothing really useful there that our phone cant do. My older brother and his wife have the 3g and 2g iphone and my instinct i think is more useful especially when it comes to the nav. but they do have better games. And 5% is also the number of usefull apps in the iphone apps store.LOL

your probably right about the Iphon apps. but I'm talking about calender sync, a calender that displays details by week or at least puts a title on the days you set, maybe list holidays, and thats just the calender we all could use some helpful apps. and the fluff is fun to.

I'm seeing a lot of contention over this lack of applications issue.  Apps we're missing:
Remote Desktop (that works reliably)
Google calendar synch which can send alerts through the phone itself
Games (I know we have some, but not NEARLY the amount for other devices
I could go on, but I digress.  The point being: when this phone was released, it was a "smartphone." Now it's a feature phone.  It always was a rip-off - we just didn't know it yet.  Now look how much time has passed, and tell me, what new apps are out for this device? Aside from dating sites and music players that is. Angry

Well said, ZombeApocalips.

This POS faced certain doom once the application developers were chased away by the failed app contest and the $5000 price for the development package.

It was hyped as one thing and never produced anything.

Iphone killing smartphone to multimedia do nothing uninspired crapphone overnight.

Bait and switch.
