So I can power the phone up and I can use the voice dial button, I can't use anything that involves the touchscreen (including the 3 action buttons on the face).  This means I cant answer calls, send/recieve texts, anything etc.  I've removed and replaced battery numerous times, I've waited patiently for hrs after each individual power up... nothing.  Any hints?  Also, on a side note i've HAD IT with this phone, this is my third Instinct, each with its own set of retarded behaviors, what model phone would my local sprint store be willing to give me in trade?

I had same problem took it to store and tech helped me.  Told me if too much pressure or dirt occurs at the top right corner of the instinct the touch screen will stop working.  They have been seeing this more and more lately.

I took it in to two stores. Both said to replace. It's still under the 1 yr warranty, so they are sending a refurb out to replace it with. I had to rent a phone from them for the mean time.

I've been having this same problem off and on for months.  Usually I just clean the screen really well and that works.  Today, it froze up again and I couldn't get it to do anything othe than turn on and off.  I just read the above info then ran my nail along the edge of the entire screen, turned it on, and it works great again.  Thanks

I had this issue when i fell asleep with the phone in my pocket.  if there is a great amount of pressure on the screen it will fail so ya sprint store it is for all with this issue.  FYI they were willing to get a refurb to me at no extra cost even with it being my fault.

could of swore I posted something the techs try out....run a guitar pick/edge of a credit card, etc,  down the edges of the touchscreen back and forth, it should loosen the sensors so it'll respond again...it's not a guarantee fix, just something to try before heading to the Sprint store.
