I switched from Verizon to Sprint in March 2009 so that I could get onto their "Simply Everything" plan.  I was getting tired of being charged big bucks for exceeding my minutes and being exploited with high charges on the miniscule amount of resources required to send a text message.

Boy was picking the Instinct a major mistake.

I have gotten to the point where I will call Sprint every single time this phone fails me.  That's how sick of this thing I am.

On the surface, this phone should be great.  It's a nice size, has a bright and clear screen, and lots of great features.  Yea, it's not close to being an iPhone killer, but I don't need anything that sophisticated anyway.

In the end, I've found that the software on this phone is so poor that I'd probably go to jail for the rest of my life if I encountered an Instinct developer alone on the street.  Let's review:

1) The browser is nearly unusable with its "Link Expired" messages and tendency to zoom in and out instead of navigating to a link when you click the screen.

2) The calendar is a disaster.  I'm making a thread on one specific thing shortly.

3) The Navigation system does not work.  It will hang indefinitely when entering information, and it has even gotten itselfdf lost and confused by sending me into an endless series of U-Turns miles from my destination.

4) It will stop downloading mail for no reason for weeks at a time.

5) The number of notes you can add to the system is limited to about 10.  I think the device comes with a 1GB chip by the way.

6) The clock will sometimes fire off an alarm when none is set.

BTW, I think it's fitting that this website doesn't even work properlyt.  This text field for entering this message is bounding all over the place and I can't even read what's being written.  I'm using the "non standard Internet Explorer I suppose".

browser can be replaced by opera or Bolt.
calender can be replaced by kb calender www.instinct-software.com
my navigation runs perfect...may need to make sure it is 100% updated.

I think I'm already a lost cause with this phone because I hate it with such a passion that I didn't even bother reinstalling my email accounts on my latest few memory wipes and warrenty replacement.  At this point my goal is to make Sprint and Samsung's life as miserable as they've made mine so that hopefully someone will get the hint that poor quality is not acceptable.

It also bothers me that I have to go out of my way to get working versions of features that were supposed to come with my phone.

And another thing, I don't know about that calendar, but Opera was not a complete replacement for the POS default browser because the system does not use it as the default browser.  This won't fix the email problem where PDF attachments cannot be viewed because the zoom feature does nothing but make the little black pixels bigger.

This phone is a POS, and someone's head at Samsung and Sprint needs to roll over this.  Literally.

I and many others agree with you. definately time to start looking for another phone. either on ebay or craigs list. or try calling sprint retentions if you are close to the end of your contract.

You do know that this isn't a Sprint run website, and though you've made it perfectly clear how much you hate this phone, nuff said, you've said your peace, and many of us here Do enjoy this phone and are here to help out those who may have problems or questions concerning the Instinct, S30, or Instinct HD...please read the forum rules if you already haven't.

Welcome to this forum Rusty Smiley

Sorry, I know in the other threads you can't just have a complete unspecific endless rant on this horrible phone (I'm sure you have plenty of them there anyway), but I thought this into forum was the place for me to introduce myself and my life with this thing.  That's also why I tried to articulate specifics on my issues with the phone instead of just say "This phone sux!"

As for the forum not working properly, I knew this wasn't a Sprint or Samsung run site but it's still very fitting that a site dedicated to the Samsung Instinct doesn't work properly.  To be honest, the website probably is working right because I think this is an IE8 issue since I've seen it on a couple other sites.

Since this in the "Venting Room", let Rusty vent. It's bad enough we have to put up with the POS Instincts, we don't need the moderator telling us this isn't the forum for it.

GO RUSTY!
