Lemme start by saying i was foaming at the mouth for this phone the second it was announced. I am a big "gadget guy" and longed for a iPhone since day one, but flat out refused to switch to AT&T or (T-Mobile) as both services are WRETCHED, so i was patiently waiting for a touch phone for Sprint, and I didnt care for either of the HTC phones. Not only did the iPhone simikarities get me, but the fact that it was a Samsung made it even more appealing as Samsung is my favorite phone manufacturer (aside fm the terrible battery life on EVERY Samsung phone lol).  I got this phone the day it came out (well 2 days after the "official" release date since my sprint store didnt have em in stock yet but coukd order em fm the warehouse next day air).  There are things I like about the phone, but there are also a lot of things that bother me, and since this thread is for those things, here goes:

NO SEPERATE VOLUME CONTROLS - most annyoing feature (or lackthereof) for me is not being able to independantly control the volumes of text and call ringers. im a huge texter and i prefer my text tones to be just a quick berp, i don't like crazy tonrs for texts cuz i dobt wanna hear it 353 times a day. any other phone ive ever had (the last 4 being Samsungs) has let you independantly cobtrol the two, so i coukd have the text alert be just a beep or vibrate, then the calk ringer vol could still b on high
not now tho, they are both the same so if i want my text to be tge beep, calls and alarms have to be too, and if i want tge call volume up i have to hear some annoying little ring clip for texts. i really cant believe there arent seoerate volumes for tge two

LAG - especially noticeable when typing an email (using Gmail on the phone anyway). I am a fast typer and the phone has no problems keeping up in text messages, but it is TERRIBLE in the email app. or on the internet when typing on a forum (such as right now).  it almost seems like a full second lag sometimes between tge button and the action.  it usually starts out fine, but tge longer yiu are in it typing, the slower and more laggy it gets. when i started typing this post it was fine, like a text, now its already slowed WAY down

RANDOM "RESETTING" - i cant stand when you type a long search topic into google in the phones browser and tgen you hit search and it just clears the search field and yiu have to type it all again, or how you will be browsing a page and all the sudden it just goes back to google (my homepage on the phones browser) when instead you clicked a link or next page.

GPS ANNOYANCES - sometimes it will have me in a completely random spot, like a mile from where i actually am.  other times i will be driving and randomly it will say im off track and show me in the middle of nowhere way off the road.  oh, and Hawai'i? according to this GPS it is just made of roads in water, as Hawai'i is all blue, no green/yellow "land". and i wish you could put in a start and end point instead of having to use your current location as the start point no matter what.

"SPELL CHECK" - OK, so this feature (i know it isnt touted as an actual spell check) is just dumb. why not have an actuak spell check? its so annoying to misstype one letter or sonething then click ob the red word and it suggest 4 compketeky diff words instead of jyst the right spelling, then you gotta try and line up the cursor at the end of the word to delete it alk just to fix one letter
also, how come my phone recognizes words like "cocaine" but then i have to teach it words like "muffin"? stupid, give us a spell checker not a wannabe theasaurus

INTERNET BROWSER - for one, why can't it have a normal one like tge iPhone? its prwtty lame that a phone touted as tge iPhone killer and high powered multimedia device etc has a browser that displays all pages in mobile mode cuz a lot of the stabdard sites cant display right.  also, it is HIGHLY annoying that some pages dont fit tge text to the screen, so you have to sit there and scroll back and forth to read stuff.

TV - again, for a phone tooting its own horn with alk these features, this is poorly done. sure, iPhone doesnt have TV, but if it doesnt work right on the instinct does it even matter ifvit yas it and iPhone doesnt? tge tv is pixelated and tge picture freezes a lot and cant keep up witg the audio, especially the "on demand" stuff (speaking of, dont call it on demand if we obly get a 2-4min sample of the shows, like south park, thats a preview, it isnt a full episode whenevet we want like "on demand" would imply)

BUGS/GLITCHES - im not gonna mention em all cuz everyone knows about most like tge freezibg and random restarts, but has anyone ever tried putting the phone on vibrate and tgen plugging it in to charge? if you get a text or call on the vibrate setting whike its charging it doesn't vibe, it rings as normal (but at a lower volume). silent is stikl silent when plugged in, but vibrate doesnt vibrate, its just a low volume ring.

now dont get me wrong, i like the phone, its a great FIRST effort, but tgose little things can drive me nuts sometimes, and they alk seem like common sense things that shoukd be fixed (and weren't in the 9/24 update)

Yeah sorry about the spelling/typos, it was typed from the phone, and like i said, when you spend time typing on the internet or email with the phone it develops a severe lag, so you end up missing things that may be wrong or mis-hit buttons cuz you end up typing entire sentances before they even show on the screen, and with the way the lag is it would take FOREVER to go back and fix each typo. for the most part people should hopefully get what the word is, and for ones that are completely butchered i apologize, and put half the blame on the Instinct lol

Ya i definately agree with you on the ringers problem.  I like to have my ringer on high for my phone calls but would like my text messages to be on vibrate and theres no way to do that.  Ive had crappy phones that had this ability and a 500 dollar phone that doesnt have this ability is just dumb.  I dont see why they can fix this with an update id like the phone alot better if i could but my text message alerts on vibrate and my phone call alerts on a high ringer.  Really pisses me off how somethig so simple wasnt created on the phone originally and still hasnt updated.
Another thing that pisses me off is that i had crappy phones which still included zoom on their camera and this 500 dollar phone doesnt even have a zoom feature thats ridiculous.  Why cant they add a zoom feature in an upcoming update i dont see how it would be such a problem to do...

It would have to be digital zoom, which is pointless, you could just crop the picture on your computer

Yeah, before the last firmware update, whenever I typed a string into the search field at Google mobile, it would reload the page without searching, but the subsequent search would work. Now after this update, it does this every time. I have to use the full Google page to search.

There are few small things that tick me off
  • No separate ringers for emails/texting/VM/calls
  • Annoying low battery alert
  • No searching for the contacts
  • No auto-signatures for text messages
  • No themes. This is a great phone, if only few different pleasing visual options were there

I absolutely love this phone. Hopefully we will have upgrades soon.

MR4 followed by the tv upgrade messed mine up...it was fine after MR4...Had the same fears for MR5 followed by the tv upgrade, but finally bowing to the hack definately made the tv the best i've seen.

I hear you on the type-lagging. I get it bad with texts. I text like a madman sometimes, despite my fat fingers... but its really gay when I text a long string of words just to have the phone lag and freeze for a second while it catches up with my keystrokes (or screenstrokes, rather), only to find I had a couple misspelled words (due to my fat fingers), causing me to pull out the stylus and have to carefully click where I need to make a correction, which is retarded.

A really annoying thing is when you are on Bluetooth headset, and the phone rings, it rings on the phone too!!  I have put it to silent, then the headset doesn't get a ring either. I have no idea with that one.
