ive decided to keep my instinct. i played with a diamond touch and touch pro and did not like the small screens.the qwerty set up for the diamond sucks. plus i dont need some of the features that id be paying for in a "smart phone".

i was kinda pissed after the nav update started mucking up my phone but after the un-update im back to normal. ive come to realize its just a phone and cant do everything and anything we want it too (not yet ). but you have to admit.....even though the instinct is still in its infancy, it does have alot of great features! hopefully they will make us much happier with the next update.,when ever that may be.  Smiley

Yes, and those great features are keeping me an Instinct user.  I love the phone, Navigation, Live Search and speech to action.

I know this section is not the place to talk about the Touch Pro, but I'm curious as to what you didn't like in it besides the small screen.

your understanding is wrong. the diamond is out, you can order it at the online sprint store $249 with 2 yr contract. i played with the touch pro at best buy, it was an unlocked cell. i think the guy said it could be used with alltel and t-mobile but im not for sure. the 1 thing about the unlocked phones is that they sell them for full price but it comes with no insurance and a short lived warranty.

i wasnt to big on the windows os. plus many of the features on the phone( business wise) i would never use.i love the slide out qwerty! it wouldve been awesome if they just used the whole front of the phone as the screen since it has a slide out keyboard. the 2nd edition instinct should have a slide out qwerty. it would be the best cell in the world.

Though I have not seen the Touch Pro "live" yet, from what I've been reading, the phone will be a thick piece of equipment, sort of like a Treo.  I've had Treos before.  They're fine, but one cannot compare the slim design of the Instinct.  I'm sold on that.  The phone fits well in any pocket I drop it in.  I can even live with the phone's shortcomings simply based on its size.

I believe you made a wise choice. The phone is getting better all the time and I am suspicious that Sprint is winding up for the Xmas season. Think about the timing. Hmmmm...new apps, fixed browser and just maybe the LCDUI update.Who knows? Maybe Santa will bring us lots of goodies this year. Wink

Yea I like the Touch Diamond and Pro, for me the diamonds qwerty has been simple to use and I rarely have mishaps, but I just like the simple yet feature laced UI of our phones.

BB,

I assume your note refers to my posting.  In any case, you are right.  The Instinct gets better with each new update.  The phone is a little over 3 months old and is working very well compared to what it was back in June.  It doesn't have any extra apps yet, but I'm ok with that.  Before adding new apps, I think Sprint needs to fix what came with the phone.

I just came from long history of Treos, tried the Diamond, and got the Instinct.  I'm loving the Instinct!!  Salesman couldn't believe I didn't care for Diamond, I just don't like WinMo, tap, tap, close.  It feels like I'm on my computer.  Yes, it can do more things but the Instinct is doing what I wanted.
Big touch screen, large buttons I can see without my glasses, simple operation.  Treos are similar but this comes with so many of the downloaded tweaks I used.  The keyboard is awesome, the landscape is awesome, and the browser is better.
Should've switched sooner, but glad I missed some of the startup problems.
If they would add "missed event notifications" on front of phone, blinking light or something, and probably a few other little things I would like, it would be even sweeter.

No, I ordered the Diamond from Sprint, I'm not sure if it is in stores or not.  The Pro doesn't come out till possibly this weekend.  I'm sure if Sprint Store doesn't have it, Best Buy won't either.  A call would save a trip or check Sprint.Com.
I like the phone, best version of Windows Mobile I have seen, especially with their custom interface.  Typing is only in vertical mode on screen.  That might get annoying.  Not all screens go into landscape, was annoying.  Slideout keyboard would help, but will increase bulk.
Just my opinions, that is why I'm really liking my Instinct.  Does all of the above, thinner and much bigger screen.

Agreed....and,I have yet to purchase ANY electronics/computer device that lives up to it's claims 100%. While I do admit some have come close, very close....all our devices are only as perfect as the people that make them. And we all know that we as a species, are far from perfect.I hope we never get there. Also, I thought this was a "Rave" section about the Instinct. So why all the stuff about other phones? Don't we already have enough threads about that throughout the forum?
