that's cuz there are so damn many of em lol...9 out of ten of em are pretty useless but some of em come in handy like task lists and translators...but if there's 20,000 apps and 9 out of 10 are useful, that leaves 2,000 apps that are worth something...the others are just for fun...what i still don't understand is why sprint couldnt get behind a project similar to the app store...it didnt have to be as big, just allow developers to post their own apps in there...f**k sprint...(patiently awaits instinct 2.0)

The best apps for any of these phones are the native apps. Even an AppleHead would agree with that. I think this apps fad will soon pass or should i say its market is already fully saturated.

so the other night, me and some homies were in new orleans and his truck gets towed. both of them have iphone 3g's and my buddy in my car has a reg. iphone. they tried looking for the address of the tow truck company with no avail. so i tap tap tap and who woulda guessed....instinct finds it, with ease.

my second run in with some iphones were at a bar, 2 reg. iphones and 1 3g, VS me(instinct) all by me lonesome. as we're getting drunk, we compare because the iphonies want some get-back. so we do a simple connection speed test from www.mobilespeedtest.com.   note we live in BFE and theres no EVDO nor 3g. so i run my test and register a measely 139.xx kbps. i thought i was smashed but all three iphones, all on edge network, only register 120-128 kbps. pwned them there too. lol Wink

so we do a simple youtube search and i win and then we do a test on who's video launched faster. instinct pwns again..!!!! plus i noticed that our video was alot brighter and sharper yet smaller in size.  Cheesy

the iphone pwns me on applications, applications, and UI from what i noticed so far. their phones are so moddable its unbelievable. the UI is also magnificent, yet it's quite hilarious when they're trying showoff an application and it freezes! lol but the applications are endless it seems. my buddy has one application that is a dyno/skidpad/quartermile timer on his phone. its pretty awesome if youre a car nut and it's pretty accurate also. (sorta like a gtech pro for those who knows what that is)  Embarrassed

all in all, i was super debating whether to get the instinct or iphone. in an area with b.s sprint service, and att dominates , sprints starting to step their game up. im so glad simply everything plan has free roaming, otherwise i'd be shafted. who woulda thought i could take my instinct down to the bottom of the boot(louisiana) where pizza men never delivers, and where theres more shrimp boats then cars, to still use my instinct and myspace and place and receive calls.   Cheesy

so my point is.........instinct > iphone/iphone 3g in non 3g and non evdo area.!!!! Shocked

I agree. You know, your Instinct is also highly mod-able. I use it more than my Ipod touch, which is the Iphone minus the phone. I believe this is a phone so ahead of it's time, there is nothing , really , to back it up. It was hurried to market, and can actually do MORE than a Palm Pre.

That's a good read.Thanks.
My mgr. @ work just got an iPuke and wants to get all the cool apps she sees on the TV and do all the stuff I can on my iPuke.I told her I don't own one.She didn't believe me until I showed her.Now she's starting to wonder why everybody thinks it's so great if other phones have the same abilities and says my phone looks just as cool...she also wanted to know why she didn't get a spare battery and how to change it when it dies and needs replacing(doh!)...AND she has to pay 30 bux more a month w/o unlimited texting....
I don't think I should have her read this article just yet.

Lol thats so true i recall a few months ago when i went to go look at new phones i thought it would be sweet to get an iphone. However i dont have a mac so i passed that idea up and was looking for a smart phone. meh said I again when i saw how slick this phone is. I was excited too when a plan for this phone would cost me 40 bucks less with internet than at@t.  man i have played with the iphone a bit now but since i got such a great deal on this phone I dont think ill ever go back.

I too cant wait for a second gen instinct if one ever comes out *sacrifices to the phone gods*

Where is everyone getting this "iphone costs $40 more monthly than instinct"? I have both and the cheapest instinct plan is $70 with 450 minutes and everything else unlimited, nights starting st 7 (thats the plan I have) and the iphone plan I have gives me 700 minutes and everything else is unlimited, nights start at 9 but i have rollover minutes and thats $90 a month. I'm considering going down to the lower plan cuz I dont talk alot during the day being that I'm at work. The plan I'm moving down to includes all the unlimited stuff i mentioned b4, data, sms, mms, etc and i'll have 350 minutes for $80 a month with rollover...Granted at&t is more expensive, its definetely not $40 more amonth, i'd have to be an idiot to pay that much...id rather just get 2 instincts...

Well one retort could be that the area that we are in is diffrent. im paying 60 a month through sprint for 1200 min. and that includes unlimited internet. With at@t i was paying 60 for the same ammount of min add 40 for unlimited data plan. thats how i got 40 cheaper. =)

well i guess location is key...i loved sprint when i lived in miami because of the network but now that im in dc the network is really spotty...bad service where i work, where i live, or where my girlfriend lives...thats like 90% of my life...but the really great thing about sprint in dc is that i get service on the subway
