I switched to the Diamond, but found that it had lacked a few things.

The texting is easier on the instinct

The Navigation is WAAAAAAAAY better.

Internet is slower, but opera makes it bearable.

plus, Instinct works great with its easy menus. afterall, it is a phone first, and a mp3 player, internet browser,
tv, video game system second.

If I had to go back, I would have just stuck with the Instinct. Anyone else switch back?

I'll have to admit I switched back as well.  After 3 Instincts, I argued w/ Sprint to exchange the phone. After going through too many layers of corporate bureaucracy, I was sent a shiny new Red Blackberry Curve to satisfy my dissatisfaction.  Oh I just knew things were going to be so much better.  Unfortunately for me, my experience with the Curve was a total disappointment. Its slow, reception is worse than on the Instinct, and generally I hated it.  So I've decided to return to the Instinct.  I'll sell the Curve and be totally satisfied with the Instinct until I can qualify for a discount on the new Instinct HD.

See, this is what the venting room never gets.  They want it all..., until they go somewhere else and realize that the grass isn't any greener over there...

As shocking as this may sound, I actually switched back because I got a phone that was even worse.

Getting nowhere with Samsung and Sprint's tech support, I contacted the State Attorney General's office in NJ to file an official complaint with Samsung.  Samsung responded by offering me another phone.  They offered the Samsung Instinct HD, but I rejected that one since it was part of the Instinct legacy.  They then offered the touch screen Intrepid.  I said OK.

I did not like the Intrepid at all.  Unlike the Instinct, the Intrepid's features all seemed to work, but everything about the Intrepid is unintuitive.  If you close an app you wouldn't know where the phone would send you next.  It was completely random.  The screen was small and very difficult to see.  I found every feature an absolute chore to use.  It was an exhausting experience.  I eventually switched back to the Instinct.

This is what's such a shame about the Instinct.  The Instinct is very intuitive, it's easy to see the screen, and is easy to use - WHEN IT WORKS.  It's the software that kills this phone.  There's too many bugs and too many 1980s style software limitations like the 9 note maximum limit and the 60 entry limit in the calendar.  Samsung, and heck the entire software industry, is too stubborn and too slow to admit and fix mistakes.

I switched back from the Blackberry and now I am going to stick this out until my M800 craps out. Which I hope is really far away because I forgot how much I missed this phone!
