contract extension with phone upgrade

This is probably obvious to most of you that change phones a lot, but I've only been with Sprint a year. As a Premier customer, I can get a fairly good discount on a new phone now, but all those deals say "with 2 year contract". At this point I am only 1 year into a two year contract. So, if I upgrade, does that ADD 2 more years, so I would have 3 years more, or does it just restart the clock for 2 years? And, do they calculate these things on a per-line basis, or for the account as a whole?

If you re-sign, it's just another 2 years. I have three lines on my account, and each one has a different contract fulfillment date. I'm pretty sure it's on a per-line basis.

Yep, per line basis...and if your good at selling the salesman, you could get new customer pricing while extending your two years, because 2 year sign ups are something new customers do to get great discounts...
Reality is... they just want the sale. Wink

Yep per line...I added the MIFI when it came out and it has it's own date and nothing changed on my Instinct line. I have heard from several people that they have gotten better deals on a phone upgrade by going to Radio Shack or Best Buy (only one person said BB). The explanation that I have heard about RS is that they make their money on signing customers and not on the phones so the selling price of the phone is "less" important to them. So, as surprising as it may sound, you might want to shop around.

BTW, what are you considering and will it replace the Instinct?
