Yeah if u want to taoe pics of thongs from far away, then get a decent zoom lense and a dslr.
thats what i do, I have a canon 20d with a 70-210, 10-22, & 24-75f2.8

Otherwise the camera is great for basic images, I cant complain at all.

Yeah I was about to post that phone cam zoom lens. Unlike any update that Sprint can give you, that device can actually zoom into the subject of your photograph and not just do it digitally (which never really produces any good pics anyway IMO.)

They need to add a led or something to that. Or make the base that the lens attaches to more sleek and have the led on the base, so we can leave it on.

I do agree that if you want an excellent picture then you should probably buy a good camera.  This is a phone.  I love the pictures my Cannon camera takes!  But on the other hand, it will be nice someday to only have to carry one device around!   Which in this case: Zoom and other features will be a must!

Today, we took our son to his first motorcross track and I had three things to carry and take pictures with!  I had my Cannon video camera of course, my Cannon camera and my instinct cell phone!  All three had a purpose, so I needed them all!  I know the instinct takes video and pictures, but not near as good as my Cannon camera and video camera, but I also wanted pictures and video on my phone, b/c I have it with me 24/7!  (And, it's nice to use with picture mail!)

You just have to remember this is a phone.  It's not a camera or a computer!  If you do that, you are less likely to be dissappointed!   Wink

you should have just took pics on the camera and synced them to your phone little more work but youll have superior pictures on your cell to look at then decent/grainy pics but then again its a small screen and you couldnt see the difference Smiley

btw... if you wanted your phone to take pictures up to the quality regular cameras can wont it make the slim phones we love today kinda bulky and would probably harm the quality of other add ons we love Smiley

i understand you all. This is a phone and not a computer if sprint makes the camera better then sprint will make the camera better. Until then i will have to just  except the phone and camera for what they are.

Well my point was that most of the camera problems (fuzzy picture) stem from lack of flash, which is not correctable by Sprint.  Short of getting an LED light addon, it takes pretty good pictures if there's adequate light imo.  Far better than my 755p, Mogul or Q9c (although the last 2 have a flash).

I think the camera is good compared to other phone cameras, but why are the pictures so big?
Is there a way to make them smaller?

Off topic, but gotta give kudos to Epcot Center and the fireworks display. Amazing.

Also, my response to most things people complain about in regards to the instinct is the same as the people here: it's a phone. I mean if you want a great mp3 player then get something that's designed to specifically be an mp3 player. If you want high quality picture taking, go buy a nice digital camera.

I have 50 gigs of music and take pictures almost everywhere I go. So I accordingly have both an ipod and 7-8 (can't remember) megapixel Panasonic Lumix. I mean, you know I view most of the stuff on the phone as "convenience" such as "I don't have my camera with me, so it's convenient for me to be able to take a picture of the big giraffe with what I have on me now."

I must be in the minority, but I really just bought the phone for the texting, IM (soon to come, right?), phone and web browsing capabilities. And the touch screen. Everything else is just bonus to me. But then again I came from owning a T-Mobile Sidekick, so everything about this phone just seems wonderful to me. Smiley
