One of my best friends is a verizon customer.  I have had hit and miss results in sending pictures to him.   I know that others have discussed this issue before; however, on another sight it was explained in great detal.  Bottomline-- Verizon only allows 350 kb (1600 x 1200); and because, the Instinct has a 2.0 camera and no way of adjusting it, the result is that the pictures are just in cyberspace.  I checked the size of my pictures that I took on my instinct against my bb pearl. The deminsions were 1280 x 940, using an average of 106 KB.   Instinct does not compress the files like other cameras.  I think that this is an important issue as the MMS is one of the reasons I got the phone (e-mailing and knowing cell addresses was a hassle using the bb).  I got this phone for the MMS features and I want them to work.  Does anyone have a work-around as to how I can check the pictures before trying to send them. I cannot believe that a picture of my garage was 484 kb!  Please help!  I love my phone and I don't want this to be a deal breaker because most of my friends are on Verizon. SOS-- Sprint-- SOS

Well this isn't really a "Sprint" issue, but when you set up your contacts correctly you can pick and choose sending anything.  So when I take a picture.......

Go to pictures
Select mail icon to send
choose friend

Mobile - 999-999-9999
Home -  999-999-9999
Email 1@suckthis.com
Email 2@yousuckit.com

So, if THEIR carrier limits the picture size, send it to their email with one click instead of the phone.  I have no problem with sending pictures to AT&T customers, but don't know any on Verizon.  It really boils down to Sprint having a better data network.

Yes i agree sprint does have one of the most powerfull data networks and the online speed tests prove it, and so just tell your friend to switch to sprint so he can enjoy his phone to  the fullest.

Its great they have the best network... but their software sucks! No option to take a lower rez picture, no option to split the pictures automatically, poor compression. This isn't a problem with Sprints network, it's a problem with their criminally under-designed phone! Sad

The easy answer to the posed topic is this: Verizon sucks.

All those 'technical' answers are great but it doesn't get to the heart of the issue. Verizon blows. That's your reason.

Well....Both Verizon and Sprint are gay ok? The difference is Verizon blows for money and sprint just takes it in the behind. All cell phone companies and money sucking leeches! ATnT will lure you with their "roll over" minutes that you wont EVER use and still has high plan costs, verizon has the crappy phones and they nickle and dime you for Txting, AIM/MSN/Yahoo Use (I almost went verizon till they told me it would cost like 15 dollars extra a month to use IM, and another 10 to use web and another blah blah blah), and Sprint...They just have the stupid plain phones. The Pre is an exception. T-Mobile is just a baby company that will eventually be bought up by one of the other 3 giants...oh and they have a hott celeb who talks good about them...but thats about it!

Sprint simply takes bigger and often better pictures than the other phone networks can handle. They need to upgrade their mms system rather than your suggestion that Sprint downgrade theirs.

Not to sound like a know it all but fyi, T-Mobile is not a baby company....it is a subsidiary of Deutche Telecom  based in Germany as the 4th largest carrier in Europe and with 128.3 million subscribers in Europe alone, its much larger than AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. Not being bought any time soon.

I totally agree. Instead of people telling me to get verizon cuz they compress their photos better or what not should just realize that even though sprint doesn't compress or as well i like being able to send big pictures!

I stand somewhat corrected. This may be true about not being bought. I still feel its a smaller used company in the USA...that is where we live right? I know one person who uses T-Mobile and the rest are Verizon, ATnT, Sprint. HOWEVER this does explain why T-Mobile was the first company in the US to get an android phone! I do hope to see Android sweet the nation. It is beautiful.
