Glad you chimed in about this problem.  It's hard to believe that the Instinct has been out his long and there still isn't any word on what to expect as a solution.  I've made quite a bit of noise on numerous forums and have spoken to several Sprint and Samsung authorities...they are aware that there is a problem but they apparently need to hear from more users in order to get this conversion thing sorted out.

If anyone here knows who best can handle this, please advise.  Thanks.

you could download them with Firefox, then convert them with free3GPVideo...

if i'm not mistaken:

Download firefox, then google greasemonkey and it should be the first result, then go to userscript.org and look up download youtube, then hit it after that it will tell you to restart firefox, then go to youtube and look at the right bottom corner of the video your watching and it should have a dowload this video link...

then get free3GPvideo converter and convert them to MP4, and walla that should be it, and if i missed a step then sorry, go to go in a real hurry c-ya....

I used AVS Convertor 6.0 on the 3g2 files and that worked great to convert for upload to Youtube. Sound is fine. I could not get sound working with Xilisoft, Yasu and Super.

Thanks for the tips... I'm a little confused tho.  Are you saying I can download a youtube video that has corrupt sound...and it will convert to having good sound?
Also, there are tons of video downloaders for you tube.  Which one should I get?

Although converting videos to a better format for youtube is a viable option I'll probably pursue, there still needs to be a fix for direct uploading so users can send a video from the field and have it show up on youtube with GOOD audio.  Come on developers, let's get this problem fixed.

don't really know about a video with a corrupt sound, and for the youtube downloader... go to userscript.org and type youtube on the search....it should be the 21th one down, it's called Youtube download... see if that helps

It almost seems like we're talking about 2 different things.  I believe Dr is talking about taking a video from his phone and putting it onto youtube.  When you do that, the youtube converter messes up the rate of the sound so on youtube, the video is fine, but audio is jarbled.  As opposed to downloading a file off of youtube (i use orbit).

I downloaded that AVS that was recommended.  Will keep you posted on how it works

Apparently, we are into two subjects here.  THE INSTINCT PHONE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH YOU TUBE'S VIDEO/AUDIO CONVERSION...AND SAMSUNG, SPRINT AND YOU TUBE NEED TO GET THEIR ENGINEERS/DEVELOPERS TOGETHER AND WORK THE PROBLEM OUT.
It's not acceptable to be forced to run the Instinct's video through a converter before sending it to [uploading it to] you tube.  We should be able to shoot a video, in the field...and upload it to our you tube profile, from the field.

When you're trying to get some news story, an interview, an event, an accident, etc. posted on you tube as soon as possible and sometimes in a stealth way, it simply isn't practical to carry around a laptop to do the slow conversions while you sit somewhere and wait.  By that time, someone else has already beat you to it...or the 'magic moment' has just passed by.

For example, last year I took some good fireworks footage on the 4th with my trusty A900.  I had great fireworks from Nashville posted on you tube before the show was half-way through...maybe the first of our fireworks on you tube.  This past 4th I had just bought the Instinct and it ruined the whole show.  The sound was unusable and I've been practically begging for help with this problem ever since.

I need a phone to do it right the first time...and I'm not alone.  Just figure how many Instincts there are out there, and understand that there are that many Sprint customers who, using just their Samsung Instinct, couldn't upload a usable video to you tube if they had to.

This problem stinks... And some folks are sitting on their thumbs, doing nothing about it, when all it would take would be to change the audio codec, in an update, to one that you tube recognizes.  Problem solved instantly for many thousands of Instinct owners/you tubers.

So Sprint has been offering 20 bucks to people who shoot a Samsung video and put it on you tube.  Now, that's a laugh.  To do that, you would have to use something OTHER than an Instinct to shoot the video...how ironic.  Of course, if you have a PC nearby and have the proper conversion software installed and if you have the time and technical skills to do the conversion and uploading to you tube from the pc...and you don't mind the delay all that causes when you're trying to be among the first on you tube, then fine.  On the other hand, some of us need a serious tool that does what it is supposed to do.

Was this really shot with an Instinct?  Did you convert the file or did it 'just work' when uploaded to youtube?  I think to get the 20 bucks you have to feature the Instinct in a video...but I could be wrong.

I'm not wrong, however, that the majority of Instinct users I've contacted were not able to get intelligible sound from an Instinct video sent directly to YouTube.  How did you do this?

i took a video using my instinct and i tried to send that video to my facebook account. I got an email saying that facebook cannot accept this format.

Any ideas/suggesstion how to do it?

Also I converted the 3g2 video file to mpg video file. I saved it to my instinct. But when I go to my photos, i can not see this converted video.

How can we set up so that instinct can recognize the new format?

If i upload this 3g2 file to youtube, the audio is not playing. the newly converted format when uploaded to facebook, the audio is not playing.

thanks!
