I recently decided to dump a bunch of pictures 800+ from various albums and folders on my PC so I could view them on my instinct. I know its not really a photo viewer, but I decided to do it anyways.

Unfortunately when I access the "SAVED" folder, instead of "XX" pictures it tells me "Too many files".

This is incredibly depressing as I wasn't aware that the instinct had limitations to number of files. I haven't tried it with music or videos, but has anyone else had this problem?

Is there a way to create albums that I can access seperately?

Didn't know there was a limit...anyone know what it is?
creating more folders is easy...in the DCIM folder, right-click and select new then folder, name it Saved2. my favorites, or whatever, so as long as it's in the DCIM folder

Well now I feel stupid. I'm gonna fiddle with it until I can figure out what the limit per folder is.

I wonder if this has something to do with a limitation on how many files (or files + folders) are possible in a top-level folder. I know on certain PC filesystems (mostly older), there was a limit on how many files were allowed in the root, but practically no limit within the subdirectories. At this point, I can't remember if it was FAT, EXT2, or some other filesystem, but the limit back then was 512 objects off of root.

Anyway, I digress. I think pyscho is on the right track.

I don't know the file limit but I do know that you can still
have to many files even when you create another sub folder.

Also having to many pictures in the folder makes loading and
browsing painfully slow.

I think I will see what the magic number is before it starts to slow
down.

For me it seems to be somewhere around 350-450. However, this only applies to one folder at a time. If you hook up your instinct and go into the DCMI folder and create a new folder, you can move half the pictures from the to many files folder so that they're all viewable.

I know that when you take over 500 pictures with the camera, the phone puts the first 500 into a different folder, and creates a new camera folder to store new pictures in.
