I transferred some pics to my phone via the USB cable while the MicroSD card was in the phone (I have no MicroSD slot on my PC). When I did so, after going back into the phone, the SAVED folder had disappeared along with all the pictures in my CAMERA folder! All the folder are still there when I access the phone on my PC. Any ideas what could have happened?

You may have just corrupted the phones Read ability.

Try to first take out the MSD card and reinsert it and if that doesn't work  Remove Battery with Card out , turn on Phone and then insert Card.

Another possability is where did you put the Pictures. There are 3 folders , Camera ,Saved and from PC  maybe if you put something in one of the folders that don't come from the proper destination it confuses it as well.  When hooked up to computer Move all the Photos you added to the From PC folder and see what that does.

also did you use SMM or just Windows explorer to move the Photos.

I just used Windows Explorer. I had heard bad things about the SMM on here and I didn't trust it. I'm gonna try what you just advised.

I have used both ways and have had no problems at all.

Try removing the card and then putting it back in.

If that doesnt work, I would copy all your pics to your PC, delete the subfolders of DCIM, remake them, then move the pics back.
