I had an M800 Instinct and after 6 months of use the touch screen would not calibrate. I went to a Sprint Repair Center to get it fixed and was handed a new S30 because my M800 could not be repaired. I was able to use my M800 as modem, but the S30 does not have the Toggle NAI capability. I have posted about this already, but since I have not seen any fix or work around I feel that this subject needs its own subject thread. Eventually many happy M800 owners will experience touchscreen issues and have to either abandon the Instinct or settle with the S30 . For me the Instinct is THE perfect phone IF it has PAM capabilities. Is there anyone out there that has a S30 Instinct and has PAM capability?
Please post how you accomplished this

Did you read the last post in this thread?

http://www.instinct-samsung.com/index.php?topic=10654.0

I think it pretty much describes the situation on it.  I haven't seen anything mentioned on anyone having it working lately either.

Here's a video by schwebs55 pamming his s30:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SH3uvmmPbm4

Here's a tutorial quoting Teedo757:

Ok I spent about 3 hours however I have figured out how to get the S30 instinct to work as PAM.

First I am not going to spend a lot of time on things you can easily find so if you have a question search for it in this forum. Lastly DO NOT tell people with a S30 to just go to the ##debugmenu# and turn off nai, the option does not exist! I had to combine a few posts in order to make this work now they are in one place.

Ok you need to fix NAI the old school way with QPST.

Get your MSL number using CDMA Workshop.
Next download QPST

"4) Configure QPST

    a) google QPST 2.7 Build 215 (or above -- current is 264)
    b) download and install QPST
    c) open QPST Configuration
    d) Click on Add New Port
    e) Select COM# - USB/QC Diagnostic and hit ok

5) Change NAI Option

    a) go to ‘Start Clients’ and select ‘SERVICE PROGRAMMING’
    b) click read from phone
    c) enter the MSL# (What you found in part 3) and hit ok
    d) CLICK SAVE TO FILE

        i) This is a backup procedure to make sure you can fix anything you break!
ii) Save with name and location that you will remember

    e) Click on M. IP tab
    f) Expand the "NAI" and "Tethered NAI" columns so you can read them both clearly.

        i) You should see that Tethered NAI is not the same as NAI.

    g) Edit Tethered NAI so that it matches.
    h) Save to DIFFERENT back up file

* NOTE ONLY CHANGE PROFILE 1 SINCE THAT IS YOUR ACTIVE USER PROFILE

        i) Write to phone
"
Now if you don't get an error you are done however I got: "Roaming list file contains no data" when i tried to upload back to the phone so here is the fix for that.

www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=175335&page=5
Post Number 70.

Ok now when the phone rebooted (after the update) I tried to connect and it did not work so.....I updated PRL, Software, AND data profile.....rebooted and it worked!

Good Luck and sorry this tutorial is kinda sloppy

Here's a pdf guide w/pics to use bluetooth or usb By SJC

That's all I found...good luck

Yea, its a tab on QPST. Its not visible on startup you have to go to the right side of the window and there should be a little arrow or something indicating to scroll right. Its a few tabs down from the ones that are visible. There should be a box that has a couple of things in it. One row will say "profile 0" and have some letters and numbers in it under the "NAI" column. The "tethered NAI" column should be blank. The next row down should say "profile 1." The "NAI" column should have your sprint username @sprintpcs.com. The "tethered NAI" column should be blank. What you want to do is make the "NAI" column in that row match the "tethered NAI." I just coppied my username@sprintpcs.com and pasted it into the blank area. Remember to do all this under profile 1 under the M.IP tab because its your active profile. After you write it to your phone, make sure you update your data profile. Works like a charm.
Oh yea. QPST erases your phone numbers under your contact info, so you might want to have that stuff ready for afterwards. If you need any more info, let me know. That's about as clear as I can make it though.

I retried using the QPST I downloaded from Qualcomm and followed your directions ( or at least I think I did)  On the QPST Service Programming screen I get it does not have the option to right arrow over to M.IP.  My screen only shows tabs for NAS, System, SMS, SMS-CB, Security,Roam, PPP Config, and IPv6   thats all. I see the online manual showes the screen you describe. I can't seem to get that screen.
What else is wierd  is that it shows my phone with another phone number.
What am I not doing right?
I have tried this a number of times following your instructions, but QPST Service Programming does not give me the same screen you describe!?!!
I have an Instinct S30  service thru Sprint

You must be using QPST 2.7 build 215, M.IP will show up only in version 2.7 build 264 or higher. Google it, it's out there.

Thank you to all that have contributed to this thread. Anyone with patience and is able to follow directions can adjust their S30 to have PAM. You are Awesome.

same prob.  any suggestions?

also, when i enter same acct info into tether nai (which is all that was there to duplicate), not only do i get the above problem trying to pam, but now i can't access data services directly from the phone, either.  had to reload the original file back to the phone to get it to work again.

btw, thanks VERY MUCH for getting me this far even.
