... And here we go again.

Do you want a phone or a toy?  I'd suggest checking the review section in these forums.  You'll likely find several reviews comparing the Instinct's features to the iPhone and other phones.  The bottom line is what you, the user, want on your phone.  It's your phone and should suit your needs.

Another thing to remember -- and, geez, people forget this! -- the Instinct is only 2 months old.  the iPhone is 12 months old.  It took Uncle Steve 12 months to clear a few bugs on the phone and get new apps made specifically for the phone.  The Instinct will have apps, too, but it won't happen overnight.

Here are a few things I like on my Instinct besides the phone itself: point-to-point navigation, speech to action, Bluetooth stereo, video recording.  Incidentally, none of those three features are available in the iPhone -- even the 3G version.  Need I say more?

I have had both phones and there they are built for different purposes so it is hard to compare.  I will admit I was extremely disappointed in the Instinct because I thought it was more of a PDA...my mistake so I took it back after 2 weeks 'casue I didn't want to wait for future applications or updates.

That is not to say you cannot be very happy with the Instinct, as many are, if you have the right frame of mind or past experience.  It has already been said that the GPS is great, I agree.

I have had my black 16gb iPhone 3G for 3 weeks now and I can honestly say it is the only phone that I may actually keep for the 2 year agreement.  What do I like best about it?  Well, in short, quick responsiveness of screen (I have used Microsoft Mobile phones for years),  ease of use (even my wife can pick it up and figure it out), SAFARI, and ALL THE AWESOME APPLICATONS....will soon match microsoft mobile quantity and quality.

3G works great in my area of Cincinnati and autoswitching to wireless is awesome and blazing fast for the internet. ALthough slow the iPhone GPS is fine and I don't miss point-to-point ( I use other GPSs on my motorcycle and cars), lack of bluetooth stereo--again not something really notice or care, Video recording would be nice but only used it about 5 times on my prior HTC Touch and Q9.

Like any purchase, decide what is important for your daily usage and pick the product.  In my experience, the iphone is FANTASTIC.

ok, I'm gonna make this short and sweet. I know a ton of people who have the 3g Iphone and I Know some that have the Instinct. The Instinct does have a multi process feature that the Iphone doesn't. This means that on the instinct you can listen to music and type a text message, but on the Iphone the music stops when you type. Lets put it this way, the Iphone has better hardware, and the Instinct has better software. The Iphone has better potential than the instinct because it has better base hardware.

Let me just solve all your problems and tell you to get the HTC Touch Diamond when it comes out. It will beat any phone on the market.

Oh and by the way, ATT blows. On their commercial the claim they have coverage in the more places like Sanlouiscalmichrida. They are exactly right on this though. They have the best coverage in non-existant places.
