Just got word from my contacts at Bell that they are upgrading all of the towers over the next year+ to G3! GSM and by 2010 G4 Shocked

Thought I would share this with you all as it means your could have both GSM phone like the IPhone and have CDMA phones under the same Brand and network. One of the BIG moves by the new CEO.

It's a bold move for up here in Canada as Rogers is the only provider of GSM.

I think you may have confused things a bit. Bell already has a 3G network with EVDO Rev A. What they are planning to do with Telus is to have a HSPA (the same tech Rogers uses) overlay added to their network by 2010 in time for the Olympics. At that point they will start their deployment of 4G LTE.  The HSPA deployment will help ease the transition to 4G LTE.
