OK, so here is something I decided I want to point out, because the Bell forums are starting to get hit a little about how much we have complained about our Instinct.

   First thing - The Samsung Instinct is a great phone, honestly I believe it is.  Now add Bell to the picture and it becomes absolute s***.

   What is so different between Bell and the others?

   BELL- Well, from the beginning, and still going on to this date, Bell advertises the Samsung Instinct as a "Smartphone".   They have not stopped the ad's for it being a 'Smartphone' although if you call support they tell you that it is not a 'Smart Phone' but is actually a 'Multi Media Enriched Phone'

   TELUS & Sasktel  Not once have I seen an ad from these companies saying this phone is a 'Smart Phone'.  In fact, unlike Bell, these two companies SEPARATE the phone categories!!  Yes, they have a "Smartphones and BlackBerry® devices" and a simple "Mobile Phones" section on their websites, where Bell just has a list of phones.   So for TELUS and Sasktel customers, at least they were not lied to about the capability of the phone, it just happens to be firmware/software restrictions put on the phones, which hopefully they will correct with the LCDUI update.

   On Bell's website to search for a mobile device you go to:  "Smartphones & Phones" section, once there this is how it filters:

    By  Manufacturer

    By  Features, being:

    * Bluetooth
    * Music
    * Camera/camcorder

   Another choice is by Turbo Card or Stick - Under Smartphones & phones....should that not be under internet access???  Oh well, it is Bell we are talking about.

    Don't get me wrong, I believe Sasktel and TELUS customers have a full right to be as angry as we are due to one simple update being implemented, which we all know has been available for at least 6 months now.

   So, I am not here to get others angry at me, or say Bell is more warranted than anyone else, I just wanted to point it out because a lot is happening on the Bell section and it is a lot for a new person to read if they just showed up and think that all we do is complain.

Thanks everyone, and I do hope everything gets fixed, but at this point I don't think the companies are willing to do that for us.

Uhmm..... Bell, Telus, and Sasktel are Canadian cellphone companies, like Sprint.

   TELUS & Sasktel  Not once have I seen an ad from these companies saying this phone is a 'Smart Phone'.

Telus just let Bell do all the advertising for the instinct and tricked customers who got the phone based on reputation.  I was never informed that there was to be major differences/restrictions with the "Multi-Media" aspect of the phone when I purchased it.  When you phone customer service their CSRS would give the run-around as to updates happening "hopefully" within the month.  Updates which, after one year of waiting, have yet to arrive.

I feel Telus introduced the instinct to compete with Bell with the hopes that customers would be annoyed enough to shell over an extra 50 when the LG Dare arrived.

I sold cellphones when the Instinct was launched.  I was told by the Bell rep they chose to make it not a smart phone so that customers could buy "Unlimited Mobile Browsing" instead of a data plan which is much cheaper.  The reason for doing this was to significantly undercut Roger's iPhone data plan.  I find Bell employees are quick to tell you its not a smart phone as if it is not as good as all the "Bell approved" smart phones.  Other carriers call it a smart phone.  And yes the applications that Bell subcontracted QuickPlay to build ruin half the phone.
