I followed the directions on the video, and it worked!  I first used a PC to obtain the MSL as outlined in the big MSL post.  Later, in the video my System Preferences screens were a bit different, because I think the video showed OS X Leopard, while I have Tiger on my Macbook Pro.  It's awesome to have portable Internet!  In fact I am connected thru my Instinct thru USB as I post this.  Go forums!

I just want to thank everyone who troubleshot this in the past. I now have my phone working as a modem with my MacBook Pro. The speed is rather surprising. I never expected anything much better than dialup.

Since I am a Everything Data customer, if they charge me, I'm going to sue for false advertising.

Thanks for the video, haven't tried it yet. Does the bluetooth connection between the phone and computer allow other (unwanted) blue tooth devices to use the connection, or access phone or computer?
thanks Smiley

I have my instinct set up working fine with my new iMac.  However, I am only getting .35gb of speed for some reason.  How do I get the blazing fast speeds that everyone else is getting?  Thanks for the answer!!

mine works just fine....the trick?  don't update.

I didn't see a reason to update my phone.  everything on the phone was working as it was supposed to, thus no update needed to fix anything.  the one time I updated I got ads on my pocket express, I immediately downgraded.

also, the directions are somewhat different for 10.3 (as my mom has), and this might work on 10.4 and its easy.  when you connect as bluetooth, click the drop down on the menubar on the top.  go to set up device and it'll let you know what you can use the phone for.  make sure the card is out and you have gone through the steps to disable NAI.  follow the onscreen (mac screen) for setting up the phone as a modem, drop down menu to Sprint PCS for the modem, it'll autofill #777 if not type that in, leave name field blank.

the only problem with 10.3 is I have had to re-set the phone up every time I have gone to her house, despite all the settings being saved on the computer.

as far as the speed.  I was clocking 350kbytes/s, which is just as fast as my ATT DSL 3.0mbits/s, AND the beauty was I didn't have to keep my phone next to her computer.  furthest I was able to get was near the street, computer is in back room.

Mine works just fine both ways (wired and wireless). Don't know how to check connection speed. Anyone know if you can set up your ipod touch to use the phone to connect without going through the computer? Another curiosity is that when i connect the car charger to the phone, i get the "connected to the computer" screen. I don't know what this means, i have to disconnect to use the phone.

the "disconnect to use phone" means that your phone is set up to use the SD card. all you have to do is pop your SD card out. then try to reconnect to the PAM. Hope that helps.
