If your modem was setup prior to the update, it does not disable it.  All this does is change the way you access the menu to turn it on.  I am sure it will be only a short while before someone lets us in on whatever the new code is.  Your best bet would probably be to monitor the thread referenced above.

ok,  here is the issues

2. drag the drive(its on ur desktop) to the trash to eject it (ok)

3. then go to system prefs and in the search box type "modem" then click on the one that says "dial modem now" (dont have this option, it has connect modem, set up modem etc. which brings you to the sam screen)

4. then it'll ask u for the phone number put #777  OK

5. put ur username and password from sprint.com
OK

6. for modem type put Sprint PCS(its a drop down menu) Dont have this as an option, but I did enter it under advanced options

7. on ur phone go to dialer and type ##332846368# (##DEBUGMENU#) This worked

8. go to Toggle NAI and click off modem NAI  OK, worked

9. then go on ur mac and click dial and it should work!
cookies would be appreciated  (Would not dial. Just said could not connect)

Huh?    now what?

<quote>http://www.nateclark.com/articles/2008/09/02/samsung-instinct-tethered-to-mac-os-x-as-a-sprint-3g-wireless-modem</quote>

it does work, ive been using it as followed for a few months now.. no extra charges have occured.
but then again i am on a sprint employee plan and i only pay 22.75 a month for the everything plan, only difference is i get 3000 anytime instead of unlimited, but im happy with that =]

Very easy... but everyone will need to feed me cookies.  LOL

Before you plug in your Mac to your Instinct, just remove the SD card.  Without the card in, then you plug in the USB cable.  It'll work.  I did it this weekend and ran my MacBook Air using the Instinct network.  I even created a wi-fi network, too, and was able to surf on my iPod Touch 2G using the Instinct's wi-fi network while connected to the Mac.

I posted that I got it working with blue tooth. Still issues with tether. Is downloading the drivers from the CD required?

if you are using a mac then now the drivers are for a pc (windows, vista) on a mac you just have to make a new dial up connection and type #777 for the number and the connection name SprintPCS and leave the the user name and password spots blank!!! i am on it right now typing this, its easier then bluetooth and way faster!!

The downside with bluetooth it is very rare that you will get a signal good enough to give you anything but slightly better then dial up speeds.  Even at usb 1.1 you have a much bigger pipe from the phone to the computer if you go by cable.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? My 3 bar speeds were clocking almost 10 times as fast as my full bar wifi!!!
