I just got an Instinct, and i have a Mac G5 at work. I also have an iMac g5 at home, but have not yet tried this on my iMac..
I found that if I plug my Instinct into my Mac, the Volume shows up on the desktop as if everything is cool, but then disappears, giving you the device removal warning.
HOWEVER - If i quickly select and drag a bunch of (mp3) files and drop them into the Instinct's music folder, it will complete the file transfer THEN disconnect.  I have 300mb of songs i xferred over using just the USB.
Maybe you know this, maybe not.  I just thought it was worth posting.

Hit the voice command button first THEN plug it into the USB port.

I just bought my Instinct, and transferred a couple songs from my Mac via Bluetooth. When I went to play the songs, it said I had none on the phone. The songs were saved automatically to my memory card, but I can't see it's contents on my phone. Any help is appreciated!

Not sure about transferring songs through bluetooth, but I know they need to go into the MUSIC folder on your SD card. You're better off just plugging the cable into your mac, unless you have a USB sd card reader and can plug that directly into your computer.
