On phone turn on Bluetooth and make phone discoverable
Pair phone with computer

Setting Preferences on Mac. To do this go through the Bluetooth Preferences on your Mac. Select the phone and go to the Sharing tab. Make sure at least all the boxes in the first column are checked under File Transfer, File Exchange, and PDA-Sync (not sure if you need this one). If you want to add extra security you can check the boxes in the second column.

After you have done this you can now browse your phone. From the Menu Bar click on the Bluetooth icon and click on Browse Device. Select your phone which should be labeled SPH-M800 then click Browse and that should be it. You can now transfer files to and from your phone. You can even delete items from your phone.

Hope this was helpful. Any questions just let me know.

Here is where I need help: from Bluetooth preferences to Sharing tab.  What OS X are you on?  Leopard (10.5.3)?  In Bluetooth, there is no Sharing tab.  Sharing appears under System Preferences.  Is that it?  BTW, I'm on Leopard (10.5.3).

You see, without using the Sharing tab, I can browse the device and see all the various folders in my SD card.  I see the following folder structure in my SD card:

DCIM
MEDIA
OTHERS
filestore
music

Clicking any of those folders, I can navigate into them.  The only exception is the music folder.  When I attempt to open it, it crashes.  I have about 200 songs in it.  I can only access them via a card reader.

I do see some differences from what you said above.  The Sharing tab (under System Preferences) on Leopard has Screen Sharing, File Sharing, Printer Sharing but no File Exchange of PDA-Sync.  That's why I'm wondering whether you're on a different OS X version.  I'd appreciate it if you could elaborate and clarify a bit more.

I'm running Tiger. Have not upgraded to Leopard. I'm gonna wait till Snow Leopard but I see the same folders as you.

I see the same folders as you.

Good.  That's a relief for me.  Thanks for clarifying that.

So, on Leopard, the instructions are basically the same as you described.  The only difference is that after you pair the phone, you do not need to do anything with the Sharing tab.  Just go to "Browse device" and the window with your phone files will open up.

The only question I have now is whether anyone has been able to open the "music" folder.  I have about 200 songs in mine.  Every time I click on it to open it, Bluetooth crashes.

I was going to wait till I got my new memory card but I can put music on it tonight and see what happens. What Bluetooth crashes? Phone or computer?

The computer Bluetooth crashes.  I've tried it on my iMac desktop and MacBook Air.  I'm also waiting for a larger card I bought.  I'm hoping that I will not need to use "Windoze" to upload the music.

So you're only running Leopard? and I'm jealous you have the Air (errrr...lol). Just from reading other Mac forums Leopard does have it's issues so the problem might just be with the OS. I will let you know tomorrow what happens when I load music to my card.

I myself like to just work from one OS. Nothing bad about Win but I made the switch about 3 years ago and LOVE my iMac but I had to buy Parallels to get music on my MP3 player for my kid.

I just got my 8GB card and transferred everything to it except the music.  The nice thing about it so far is that I was able to open the Music folder on this iMac without having Bluetooth crash.  So, I'm wondering whether the problem could have been the other card.  This is also on Leopard.  I'll try to upload a few songs at home and see how it goes.

I was not even able to try this out. I loaded some music and went to the player but it just hangs there and I end up having to turn phone off then back on.

It could be the file format.  Is it .mp3?  I have not used Bluetooth to upload music.  A card reader is super fast.

Has anyone tried to add notes to the phone through Bluetooth?
Any idea what format the Notes application uses?
How about what folder the notes go into when connected via Bluetooth?

I like the phone but I have to have a way to transfer a lot of notes (does not have to be Word, I use to use Palm) into the Phone. I do not even need to sync them, just bring them over to the Instinct.

Thanks for your time.

I am still having the problem with the music player not loading. I removed all music and it still hangs. Second problem in one day. I'm hesistant about calling Tech Support since this phone is so new and they really don't know what to say. I called this morning about my voicemail and said "I'm having problems with my Visual voicemail" and the tech said "Visual?" lol I guess it's kinda expected since the phone just came out.

Ok so I'm a little behind the times and new to this whole connect to blue tooth thing. I own a macbook and tried to connect it to my phone based on what you guys put but I couldn't figure it out. How do I make the phone discoverable? Can somebody walk me through this step by step? It would be greatly appreciated!
