yall are crazy! we have 2 batteries. we shouldn't need a car charger!!!
I admit I am crazy.    Tongue But I want that ability! What if I lose my extra battery? What if I am driving and the phone battery goes low; how easy is it to change batteries while going 60mph? Apparently it is not very easy to change the battery when sitting still. (Although yeah I admit having the extra battery is terrific!)

Plus that lil charging unit looks like it could break any second...  Wink

I'm not taking any chances of not having that second battery with me and running out of juice.   Wink  I'm also going to get a travel charger to take when I go out of town, that way my primary one doesn't end up getting left somewhere accidentally.
I'm with you: you got a cell phone? You need a car charger.  Wink

This thing uses a lot of juice.  If you plan on using the gps, live tv you will need the car charger and the extra battery.  After a full charge, I ran the battery out with about 20 minutes of talk, 35 minutes of gps, 30 minutes of Sprint tv and hour putting in contacts and an hour of standby.

I found the same to be true: I really need a car charger if I am going to use the GPS for more than five minutes.  Wink

I left the house with the battery on about 80% charge (after listening to music for a couple hours). Then I used the GPS to drive about fifteen miles round trip. Did a couple of live searches. Watched five minutes of TV, started FM radio, and then I got a low battery signal. Thankfully I had my car charger with me.

I don't know why the phone is turned off (cannot make or receive calls) when plugged into an active USB device.

But how do you charge the phone with USB and computer? Does it automatically start charging when you plug it in? Do you need to install the USB driver? (I do NOT want to use the MediaManager, as people have reported it does strange things to the microcard.

And, my spare battery did charge in the plug-in device, and also I have a car charger.

I have not received problems concerning the media manager.  Just have to make sure it installs properly.  The computer should restart itself after the install.  Once the drivers are installed, the computer will recognize the phone as a seperate usb storage device.

Once, the phone is plugged into the comp, it recharges off the comp automatically.

Thanks. So the Media Manager didn't reformat your microSD card or write protect it? (like some persons were reporting)? Also, do phones charge faster when on USB hookup to computer? Because it takes several hours for the little charger that came with the phone to charge the spare battery.

Has anyone figured out how to charge the extra battery? I mean it looks like they have made it fool proof . Insert the battery into the little charger, put the top on, connct the AC cord, plug it in. But I dont want to damage the extra battery. When I plug it in, the color showing is red, which I assume means charging, but...

and when its done, the light turns green.

No issues whatsoever with the micoSD card being write protected at all.  They may have to reinstall their software.  Not sure if the phone charges faster or not on usb.  I have not tested it

sorry

This scenario for charging is true, but when you connect the phone via USB, it shuts the phone off...WHY??
The phone shuts off when you plug in the USB plug because it thinks it is hooking up to the computer. However, if you give it a few seconds and then the phone realizes that the phone is not plugged into a computer and goes back into power saving mode.  If you hit the lock button, you should notice that the phone is charging and the phone is on.

Got a retractable car charger off E-bay about a week ago works great.

For Travel I have a 110V-12v converter so I just take that and me car chargers (for rental car  use) less to carry.

And somehow I did have it charging and was able to use Phone function on the computer but now it's not maybe once it was fully charged or something. I remember how  you have to select Safely Remove Hardware from the Computer but leave it pluged in . This will disconect from Files but still allow charging to continue

I have no problems with MediaMan at all and I have loaded Pictures, movies ,videos and music.

I almost bought a Car Charger when I bought my phone but I waited.  I tried Walmart with no luck and then I went to Big Lots and bought a Generic Car Charge for Samsung Phones.  It came with 4 adapters.  I found the one for the Instinct and plugged it in and it works perfectly.  Total Cost: 5 Bucks....  Grin

Another place for phone gadgets is WirelessToyz. Car charger: $10. They told me $30 at the Sprint store when I got my phone.

was looking at walgreens the other day for net gadgets while waiting on a Rx.

Get this instead of a car charger, it will work with almost anything you can plug into a computer with the data cord.

Where did you all buy the car chargers? Online or in the store?
Does it make difference that from where we  are buying the charger?? Because I don't think it make any difference.
