Im wondering if its possible to charge the phone with the battery in the phone with out using the dock. My concerns are a lighter outlet car charger.  From what I know it comes with a battery charging dock with two included batteries.

Actually, the box contents should include a Battery Charging Case according to one of the spec sheets I saw and in Phonedog's unboxing video he does unload an external battery charger from the box. So you can charge the second battery while the other is being used in the phone.

Yes, but it doesn't appear to be a dock, but who know we might beable to buy one later on.

There is no dock. There is a wall-to-phone charger and an usb enclosure for aux battery.
So car power supply will work fine with the phone.
The reason I know is cause I have the phone:)

Has anyone figured out how to charge the extra battery? I mean it looks like they have made it fool proof . Insert the battery into the little charger, put the top on, connct the AC cord, plug it in. But I dont want to damage the extra battery. When I plug it in, the color showing is red, which I assume means charging, but...

the included dock is for charging the bare battery.  the phone can charge via the USB cord to your computer.

This scenario for charging is true, but when you connect the phone via USB, it shuts the phone off...WHY??

I don't know why the phone is turned off (cannot make or receive calls) when plugged into an active USB device.

But how do you charge the phone with USB and computer? Does it automatically start charging when you plug it in? Do you need to install the USB driver? (I do NOT want to use the MediaManager, as people have reported it does strange things to the microcard.

And, my spare battery did charge in the plug-in device, and also I have a car charger.

I bought mine in the store while getting the phone. I figured I might as well while I was standing there.

ditto, I got mine in the store - which is the only accessory I let the rep sell me... and I think $30 is way too much to pay. BUT I wanted to be able to have the immediate ability to charge the phone in the car.

The charger they sold me is the one that says "For use with the Samsung M300, M510" (whatever the heck those are!)... so as soon as I find a "generic" equivalent in Radio Shack or somewhere, I'm bringing the overpriced sprint one back.

I'm not taking any chances of not having that second battery with me and running out of juice.   Wink  I'm also going to get a travel charger to take when I go out of town, that way my primary one doesn't end up getting left somewhere accidentally.
