Lips Sealed..Well, honestly I haven't had much trouble with the email app(on the phone that is).As far as that Direct Connect App, it seems to want me to re-enter my password aevery few days and it's not the speediest with retrieving my mail.I know it's some sort of piggy back app but I definitely see room for improvement.BUt all in all it works. And yes I will email the addres @ the top of the thread as well.

It isn't good. I'm finding there is no option in settings to leave the messages on the server so I can respond with my normal email client at home. I mean the Instinct is okay for reading them but responding i another thing all together.  If someone knows of a way for me to do this please share until then i won't be recieving email on my phone.

This is how the application was designed. It was created to give the user a live copy of the inbox. So any change that you make on the device, read, delete, move, etc will be reflected on the server. There is no option to toggle this off.

Oh, and "Other IMAP" doesn't update quickly.  I think it's been timed at every 15 minutes, where as the Gmail option updates almost instantly.  However, you can't edit folder options with Gmail account.  And, as of right now, I can't add that Gmail Apps account and get it to register for push...

The Push feature does not work with Other POP/IMAP accounts. It is only intended for use with the provided list of email carriers found on the first page of the application. If you have to click "more" at the bottom of that initial list, then most likely you are not going to get the push feature.

OWA also supports push, which is also located on the 1st page.

So when you select Other POP/IMAP and setup the account it is called polling, instead of pushing. Which basically "polls" the server every 10-15 minutes and pulls down any new emails or changes from the email server.

The push feature will push emails to you phone as soon as it hits the email server.

As for not being able to edit your account settings, this is true. You are not able to edit them but you have to remove then re-add the account to make changes to the settings. As this can be annoying, I do know that SEVEN is working on a future release of the application that is going to address this issue.

Please don't be so general. There are some of us who are able to see the email on our phones and it is still on the respective server until we remove it, which is what the quote you included relates to.

Vektor67 -- you should check the settings in your home email client to see if there's anything there about leaving items on the server until you remove them.

I'm using Yahoo and Juno email and can't send mail from either account, but I can receive
For Yahoo, I used the default set-up and entered my username and password.  For Juno, I used the POP email option with pop.juno.com as the incoming mail server and authsmtp.juno.com as the outgoing email server.
If I try to send email it get the message, "Unable to connect to the server. Please check your connection and try again (S7122) at which point I can no longer send or receive e-mail and the only way to restore some functionality is to delete my email accounts from the phone and start over.
So everything works fine until I try to send an email.  I can receive them all day though.

I am having the same issues with the Juno email which I set up the same way you did.  I get the S7122 error when refreshing or sending mail from this account.  It is very frustrating!  Did you ever resolve?  My yahoo accounts are ok though. Huh?

Juno does now allow 3rd party applications to send through their SMTP servers. Which includes the application on the instinct.

I have my hotmail, gmail and roarunner(cable) email working with a workaround. Since first using the emails(before the workaround) the email isn't consistent. Sometimes hotmail and gmail will push the email and display a new message and other times it won't. These problems need to be addressed and being able to use pop email without using other servers and fixes. Please help us.

The lack of folder creation (I wanna save certain emails in a folder i create) and the fact that if i delete an email off my instinct, it also deletes it off the server. These are my complaints about email experience.
Did not have these problems with my Mogul (even though over all I am enjoying the instinct much more and it's way sexier!)
