Do you know if that feature will be added later?  Is there another way around that...like maybe plaxo?  I am really surprised that wouldnt be an important feature for Samsung to have on this phone.

The calendar sync with exchange is a show stopper for me.  Returning the phone for that reason.

Curious as to how many others think the lack of calendar sync is a show stopper for them.

I could see where it might or would be for you.
But I don't use Exchange. (It is not even loaded on my computer.)
I use my phone for personal reasons, not business. Some people seem to think the Instinct is a smart phone, which it is not.
I am not saying this about you - just pointing that out.
Probably I would buy an HTC Touch Pro if I wanted a phone that takes web browsing and POP email seriously. On the other hand, I doubt I could afford one.

When I am away from work I stay away from work:)
Don't remember the last time I checked work email from home..oh that's right...never:)
I do think however someone might write an app for Instinct to sync with Exchange; seems a lot of people want that

Someone did post who has a family member that works at sprint that some apps adding more exchange functionality would be arriving in a month or so.  No official news to confirm that though.

It is a show stopper for me as well.  When I am not at work or on the road, I need my calender since this is a business machine for me.  This will push me to an iphone.  I switched from my Mogul because it has way to much that I didnt need, but what it did have (Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync) served my needs.

Calendar sync with Outlook would be great, but I'd just be happy with an improvement over the garbage calendar that comes on the phone.  I love just about everything else about it, but the calendar program just sucks.  I know it's early, so I'll just cross my fingers that it will be improved in an update, or maybe a 3rd party app or something...

I agree that full exchange support would be nice, but if that is a showstopper for you, why did you even go through the trouble of getting it?

We've known for months that the only "exchange" support would be email access through Outlook Web Access.

Other than the speculation and hope that more apps/functionality will come, all it has is email.

Picked up my Instinct yesterday and for the most part love it.

Do I miss Active Sync!

It does look like there is an issue with Mobile Sync, Sprint Desktop Sync and also the Sprint Address book.  I have activated Mobile Sync (3 times after resetting my phone 3 times) and Mobile Sync stays in a perpetual state.  "Your Sprint Mobile Sync choice is being registered.  This may take a few minutes.  Please check back later."  The longest was overnoght, about 8 hours and still no activation.

I know it is not the phone as I picked up an Instinct for my wife this morning and Mobile Sync is displaying the same message.

The Sprint Address Book will not sync manually added contacts back to the phone and the Import Contacts from an Outlook CSV times-out / errors.  I even massaged the CSV to one contact and deleted the columns that are not recognized by the Sprint Address Book.  Still nothing.

The Sprint Desktop Sync errors out with "The system could not validate login information for unknown reasons."  Again, I know it is not my Login ID and Password as I can log into the web site and I even chnaged my password once.  I have deleted the INI file and reinstalled the Sync application twice.

I have tried the Sprint Address Book and Desktop Sync from 3 different computers and 3 different networks.

So... to migrate my Outlook Contacts I exported them as V-Cards and sent them to my phone via Bluetooth.  (I would have done phone to phone except I left my old phone at home today.)

Anyone else having issues with Mobile Sync, Sprint Desktop Sync or Sprint Web Address Book?

Like I said, I really miss Active Sync.  Other than that glitch I love the phone.

Yeah, this is a bummer. I kind of need that functionality. I am hoping for a 3rd party calendar that will sync with outlook. I mean this is an open platform so I can't see why they wouldn't add it especially since iPhone has it on there next one being delivered in a month. May take a few months but I have hope in someone for developing it. The other thing I don't like is the contacts. It lacks a birthday field. Very simple thing that I like to have on my contacts so my phone reminds me when it is a friends birthday. This is the only way I remember to call them on their birthday. Hopefully someone will add in more fields/functionality to the contacts as well. Other than that I'll suffer till the fixes are introduced because it is a GREAT phone.   Cheesy

I went out to the store to check the instinct out. Its a nice phone but its quite clear that from a browsing perspective, its no iphone. Additionally, the calendar issue is a showstopper for me as well, even though I imagine that they would fix this soon.

It is a show stopper for me as well.  It is a requirement for me to have a full sync with Outlook.  I wonder if there will be a software upgrade for this phone.  I'd hate to find out that there is another phone just around the corner that will need to be purchased instead of an upgrade for the Instinct.

Why can't this sync when the new iPhone can?

they claim that the sync is just for contacts and not calendar.. Seems pretty boneheaded as to why calendar sync was not included..hard to believe the argument that this is a consumer centric phone and not a enterprise oriented phone - consumers then dont need to sync their calendars according to the marketing guys in sprint?
Different from the iPhone which is based on a real open OS with a a real developer community.. their level of third party apps will be better..
