I haven't figured it out yet.  I used a Palm Treo 755p prior to this phone.  I used the calendar all the time, because it was there.  Prior to that, I had a Samsung A900 that had a crappy claendar.  I upgraded to take advantage of some of the "smartphone" options, but really only took advantage of the calendar, and email of course.  Surfing the web or doing any other multimedia on the Palm sucked...  I am trying to decide now which is more important, the calendar option with a Palm, or everything else with the Instinct.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do something that syncs with OUTLOOK!  At least that!  I can manage it not being EXACT - although it would be MUCH better if it were similar to Outlook and SYNC!!! PLEASE!

Just get a dang better calender.  It seems like it would be easy to include times and not have to use the slot machine style of selecting your times.  I mean, its a high quality phone (maybe not a pda) but how many more people would purchase it if it had some simple options for the calender and pda options!  Come on Sprint!  Great price, terrible apps...opera mini, scheduler, some free games and not demos!

This morning I tried to enter a repeating event for every other Thursday.  Though I could find the repeating option, I could not find an option for every other week.  Is there an option for that?

 I don't think so

The thing is very basic and limited.

I have several day event on it but it only shows on the first day. I think it sould stretch out over all the days it has in the Event.

Something will improve soon I hope.

Nothing is impossible.  I am more than positive you will see apps popping up in the next few weeks/months that will suit "almost" everyone's needs.  Stay positive, SDK hasn't been out that long.

SDK is software development kit.  It's what the programmers need to write applications and utilities for the device.

You're being very generous there.   Grin  I sure hope something improves fast.  The phone is fantastic in other areas, such as the GPS.  The calendar, however, has room for a lot of improvement.  I'm not using it; just testing here and there.  I've found that Google Calendar works beautifully.  I actually made that my home page.

Geez, lots of Texans in this thread...

Yeah, like the rest here, I'm also anxiously waiting for more apps.  The current calendar is abysmal.

I don't think so.  THIS HAS GOT TO CHANGE.  I am changing over from Treo 650.  My Calendar HAS got to SYNC.  I got the phone on the 19th, so I am going to wait about 25 days to see if they update it to a more usable calendar. If not, back it goes.  I guess I'll get the Blackberry...  :-(

i'm still using an older flip phone and the calendar in this thing is atrocious. once i add an event, i only have around 14 characters to fit all the information.

has anybody used the instinct's calendar? please tell me there is a better way to list appointments and such.

You hit the nail on the head.  The Instinct would be "Everything" if it had support for Exchange.  I look at it like this:  Yeah, I need a phone for business, but I want to have fun with it too.  Carrying around a clunker like a Palm or a Crackberry for email and calendars and only email and calendars is no fun.  I like all the stuff that comes with the Sprint service that helps make the Instinct fun.

I don't see why Exchange isn't supported.  Apple is going to support it.  Nokia just bought the rest of Symbian and they are going to support it.  Google's phone operating system is going to support it.  Get with the program Instinct.  You could be the perfect phone.

Calendar is certainlly a show stopper for me as well.  I am TOTALLY DEPENDENT on my calendar for meetings, appointments, birthdays (the ONLY way I can remember), and my work schedules.  Also, sometimes, TO DO items.  I bought the Instinct thinking it was going to better, more like my Treo, but alas it's not.

I'm going to wait until I've had it for 25 days and see if they're going to upgrade these items...  If they don't, then I'm going to return to my Treo, then check out the new iPhone or even wait for the 9000 series touchscreen Blackberry.

it's a sad state now...  Too bad it doesn't work like it should.  NO ONE ever said it wasn't a Smartphone...  I assumed it would sync like iPhone.

:-(

Ragazzola,

I did read a review, I don't remember from which website, but it said that it is not a smartphone.  I guess I didn't really understand that until I got this.  Like I had mentioned earlier, I got pretty used to my Treo.  I am undecided right now and am thinking maybe I made the wrong choice.  I'm like you, I am going to give it a couple weeks and if I am not happy by then, it's going back.
