Honestly, I'd like it if Sprint and Verizon would combine. This would give us a bigger network, more towers, more customers, some better phones, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea personaly.

AT&T didn't raise theirs when they joined with cingular... yet what prices would they change? We're already in a contract so i don't think that they could increase the charges on your contract, and if they did (this would void your verizon contract) there's a video of how to get out of a verizon contract, and any price changes you can dump out of the contract without termination fees or nothing. But all the pluses to them joining with another company would surpass "higher prices" because we'd finally be paying for the network that we signed up for

They can raise the prices for new customers and for any time you would have to renew your contract (which they can do fairly easily, such as buying a new phone at a discounted price that requires a contract extension).  All they have to do is say they won't let you renew your contract with the old plan, which means you basically have to renew under the new plan if you want a new phone...  Sprint basically did that exact thing with the Instinct.

And no, for me and a lot of other people out there the pluses of joining with verizon would not outweigh the higher prices, as verizon prices are ridiculous.  I would drop Verizon/Sprint altogether as I imagine many others would also.  Not to mention, most of Verizon's roms AND phone hardware is terrible...  If this had any impact on the Sprint phones I would want everything they have to offer even less.

Damn sprint just make a phone that supports everything!! whats the big deal so it might be a little chunky but the HTC's are already like that so make one and end it lol Everybody knows it possible but what they want to do is every time a new phone comes out. it has exactly what the previous one had only they added one more feature.....stupid for us..smart for them...business. either go with it or keep away from it. Sometimes they really degrade a new phone so they can start all over again. Useless. Just pick a handy one and stick with it untill another worth your money comes out.

i think the 3 things they should really consider adding is flash support, better camera and make it capable of themes(like the iphone)

another thing i would be interested in on the next generation of Instinct is a iPhone with instinct badging, seems like that is the only way so far this thing is going to match up to it.

one other good thing would be enhanced or maybe even HD screen, i was looking at the HTC HD, on HTC's site and it would just be awesome if they brought that on over to sprint customers!

do realize that the "Instinct 2" is out there...I mean have you all looked closely at the Omnia's specs?  Better camera...check...themes...check...flash support (see Skyfire browser)...check.  The Omnia runs Windows Mobile 6.1...which is what HTC's devices run on.  The only thing an Instinct owner will be missing is Visual Voicemail, which I'm still trying to find for my HTC Touch Pro.  Omnia has a CDMA version that Verizon just rolled out.  Also, Alltel, T-Mobile, US Cellular AND AT&T has a version of the Omnia...so where is Sprint on this???  Is Sprint really SOOO invested in the Instinct that they won't field these new phones?  I'm happy with my Touch Pro...but it would be nice to see Sprint get MORE competitive with hardware.

BTW, I already went thru 2 Instincts...didn't go what I needed them to do...I think I was on drugs when I bought the Instinct thinking that it will one day be "smart"...but Oct has come and gone....haven't seen any "official" apps from Sprint yet...and the Instinct did NOT fit my needs.

Just because a phone is better doesn't make it the number two. And the fact that it runs winmo should be your proof it isn't the next instinct. If they make the next instinct wimno I won't be buying it. I don't like that OS

Well, after handling the TOUCH HD unlocked...........that right there, i believe is the instinct 2.  I will probably be getting one in a few weeks with a t-mobile plan.  DO NOT BASH ME EITHER, I WILL STILL STAY WITH SPRINT, but honestly this phone is really REALLY an awesome phone and quite possibly the ultimate INSTINCT 2.  Yes, i still have hope for this phone  Shocked Wink

I appreciate the fact that WinMo is not for everyone.  I also understand that a "better" device doesn't make it a number 2.  My point is that Samsung, in such close time frame (within six months of launch of each other), releases a phone that has a full touch screen interface, higher megapix camera w/flash, more flexibility in function and ability to install 3rd party apps.  Yes, it is a WinMo device and not everyone will like that.  It does warrant a look as the "Instinct 2,"  I myself have went thru 2 Instincts, and am still quite hopeful that this phone pans out.  However, for the attempt to make this into a smart version of a multimedia phone...Sprint and Samsung are NOT winning that battle.  Sprint put their eggs into the Instinct basket and for most of us that were early adopters, we paid for a relatively unfinished (firmware/os) phone.  While Samsung were finishing and making deals with EVERY OTHER CELL CARRIER out there with a version of the Omnia.  Verizon, T-Mobile, At&T, US Cellular now all have a version of a Samsung full touch screen phone and everyone of those model OUT SPECS the Instinct.

I am still looking forward to a dedicated App store for the Instinct; I am still hoping that they'll come thru with the ability to view word/excel/pdf files; I am hoping that the improving browser will finally be as smooth as say Safari.

Bottom line, IMHO, is that Samsung has bigger and better phones out already.  Without giving up hope, we should accept the Instinct for what it is.  A less than stellar attempt by Sprint into the full touch screen arena.

If not they better get the HTC Touch HD. The Omnia looks cool, but if you ask me the HTC looks better. Although, we still have 18 months(which is forever in technology time) for them to come out with something to keep me happy with Sprint. I'm sure when our contracts are almost up we'll have a lot of discussion about what is next for us
