(Instinct 2) Thread!!!

This isn't a list of annoying comments and complaining just things that we would love to see on the next generation Instinct. I will start off by saying i would like to see a better camera and video, one that has options and better quality that is seen in mobile devices.

US phones are pretty notorious for crappy cameras though.  Overseas you can get cameras that are phones also practically, but here most phones have seriously sucky cameras in one way or another.

I would like to see more integrated apps in general.  Less reliance on 3rd party (although 3rd party is still a great resource).

A better GPU, camera, and maybe flash support.

Since this isn't a smart phone, I won't say Windows Mobile but it would be cool to install it through a hack. :]

Better, 3d accelerated gpu would definitely be nice.  Another thing might be to include some actual hardkeys instead of where the 3 softkeys are.  Hardkeys help out gaming a lot.

An accelerometer for app use and easy view switching.

i'd have to say next years model should come with atleast a 5mp camera w/ flash and a larger mirror lol..... a better gpu wouldnt hurt at all.. but it would then need a stronger battery as that would consume more power..... no windows mobile... its just to advanced for a mobile device but i'd like for next years model to have tons of app's that we actually want unlike the i-phone where there are a ton but not all are worth a penny.... an accelerometer.... wider screen probably vga and support for more types of video formats such as dvix, avi....... a better default browser out of the box....


i can't really think of that much else on the hardware side as this is already a cool phone with tons of potential on the software side...

Rather than Sprint trying to reinvent the wheel again, they should opt for something like integrated Skyfire or OM...

Oh yeah, and a STYLUS PORT.

i would like the instinct not to 'dictate' when you go into landscape mode and when you don't-- also, some kind of t9 layout for texting?

question: whats an accelerometer?

Tilt sensor basically.  Allows the phone to know if you are physically moving it around.

Forced landscape is a good idea for virtual keyboard imo, other than that options might be nice.

I just bought the phone.. I'm so not looking forward to one coming out NEXT year like what Apple did to their first gen iPhone buyers. And I'm definitely not listing things I would want in a phone because that would make me hate my Instinct. In 2 years there will definitely be phones we haven't even thought of making that would blow our minds. That's the phone I want to get. I would assume they'll be under the names Android or Symbian.

A lot of carriers/manufacturers do that really.  Life span for phone support is quite short.  Last year you bought a mogul or Touch, this year it will probably be all but obsolete due to VGA HTC Touch or Touch pro.

just thought:
doesn't the instinct have this?? how else would it be able to detect when you hold the camera button in the web browser which allows you to pan the page??..

That is different.  It uses the camera to determine what you are looking at.  So if you wave your hand in front of the camera or it's dark, it will affect where it thinks you are looking.

An accelerometer tells if you are moving the phone in space based on the movement and does not use the camera.

So in short, accelerometer is much better because it isnt affected by:
1 - lag of the camera display
2 - camera lens being covered
3 - lightning conditions
4 - extra drain of running the camera while using it
5 - moving objects in the cameras view
