I recently converted several of my DVD's to mpeg4 to play on my phone.  I added the movies but the problem is that everytime I try to access the movies it takes FOREVER for them to appear.  Has anyone else had this issue?  I just got a new 8gb SDHC card that I put the movies on.  Is anyone else having this problem?  I did a search and couldn't find anyone with this issue.

But you are able to watch it eventually?

How did you decode the DVD when ripping it to your computer?

what size are the movies AFTER you converted them? What class is you MicroSDHC card? there should be a little number w a circle around it on the card. also what brand is your card? all these things can effect that

all my movies are below 300mbs and they all load fine

Yes I am able to view them eventually but it takes like 20-30 minutes of the yellow spinning for it to come up.  I used DVD decrypter and Handbrake to convert the movies.  The class is 2, the manufacturer is SanDisk and the movie sizes are much bigger than yours at 700mb to 1gb.  My guess is the size of the file and the class of the card are the problems.

Well I use AVS Video Convertor when I convert any media files.  The program works great and I have never had a problem.

I know it's a pain in the a** but try downloading the AVS Video Convertor at http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/downloads/convert_avi_to_mp4_software/
and use that to convert.  A lot of times files can be corrupted during the conversion process.

The movies play fine once they have loaded but it does take 20-30 minutes to load.  This is ridiculous.

Wow you have 20-30 minutes of patience to wait for it to load? You are a troubleshooter first class! When was the last time you did a powercycle? I know that these phones have a huge memory problem and since I have no idea when you defragged your phone I would try turning it off and then on.

You can always try a dicferent converter and make it take up less space. I'm using a class 2 and my movies all under 500megabite load fine.

I ended up deleting one of the movies that wouldn't show up when plugged into the phone but would show up when connected to my comp and it solved the problem.  I guess when I plugged it into the phone it would just try to keep finding the movie.

This may be a total noob question, but how do you defragment your phone?  I searched and found nothing but this thread.

Once you plug in your phone with the usb cord, open the phone as a drive to view the files. Right click, click on properties, (at this point I am only speaking for Vista, sigh yes I know) click on tools and then defrag.

It should not matter I was only referring to how I would walk you through it in Vista. XP may be slightly different. Worst case scenario plug in the phone to the computer, go to Start-->Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools-->Disk Defrag and then choose the drive that represents your phone.
