Properly formatted videos will play fullscreen.  That video had an incorrect aspect ratio.

A movie should be perfectly aligned since Instinct is 16:9(HD kinda) but Tv shows and such will normally have bars on the right and left(Should change in the next 5 years when everyone switches from SD to HD programming)

Yes it depends on the movie format, because on my phone i have some movies that fit the screen, and then i have The dark Knight which has the two black spots on the sides.

+1 i have a video that fits the whole screen. Which is something that you should be able to do with a widescreen video. Other videos will have the two bars.

ive narrowed down the best settings for encoding movies with optimal screen resolution size, i use 400x220, its the smallest vid size and fills the screen completely, NO BLACK BARS ANYWHERE.  just resize the video useing 400 width 220 height, mp4, mpeg-4, bit rate 384 kbps<--- lowering this setting will make file smaller, but quality will also suffer, of course raising it will increase quality and size.  i use total video convertor, it easily resizes  ANY vid and doesnt require you to fumble with fps and whatnot, also keeps audio in perfect sync.  i just did a 2hr 5 min movie with those settings 406 mb size, 1 hr 25 min movie 295 mb.
