Does anybody know how to stop the music player and close it out completely?

All I see is a back arrow, forward arrow and a play button.

When the music is playing and I hit the play button it just pauses the music.

How do you completely STOP the music from playing without simply pausing it?

Thanks in advance.

You cant you can only pause it. Its one of the few things that the phone allows to multitask so that you can do other things while playing music. It also does this so it doesnt have to keep scanning your memory card.

Yeah a little. But it doesnt seem to really affect battery or performance so its no big deal. Alot of people actually complain that the instinct doesnt have more programs running in the background like the music does. But personally im pretty happy it only does it with a few. Because if it did it with things like navigation your battery would die much faster.

So, what's the technical reason why the music player can operate in the background but only remain paused (not stopped?)

I think it's a ridiculous design flaw.

I ask b/c I'm quite happy about this feature.  I had been using a PPC6700 before my Helio, and neither device could play music multitaskingly (yeah, I made that word up; wanna fight about it?)  I like that I can now listen to music while doing something else, but like the good technophile I am, I wanna know why..

I admit it is a good feature to be able to play music in the background while you "multitask."  But why is it that you can't just stop the player?  Seems like a pretty simple request to me.  Sometimes the simplest things are overlooked.  What happens when I am finished listening to music and I have NO DESIRE to listen again for say a month or so?  Why should the player be in the pause mode all this time?  I see design flaw written all over this.

The pause is technically both a "stop" button and a "pause" button. By "pausing" it will not effect the battery at all. It is the same as if there was a "stop" button.  Grin

Again, a simple request.

Push pause once, unit remains in pause mode.

Push pause twice, unit goes to stop mode.

Hmmmm, seems like quite a engineering obsticle to me.

With digital files, pause and stop are the same thing. It's not like the CD has to keep spinning.

That is true, but with my phone a problem exists that when I choose a song---that song plays, the old song that played previously has been paused and is still waiting to be queued, and when I try to play another song I get the error message "Uncaught Exception: Exiting Application" and the media player closes and goes back to the main screen.
I believe that happens because the media player never closes out.  I always goes into the pause mode and could stay there forever if I choose to never listen to another song.
I can only play one song from my list, but if I choose to play another song I get the error message stated from above.
Sprint Level 2 tech support seems completely unaware of this inability to close out the media player issue and said it may be addressed with the new firmware/software but there are no guarantees.
