Anyone else having this issue?...

since the last update, my music player rescans WAY too much.  When I load it, when I click a playlist, even when I choose a song, it has to rescan, and it takes about (i timed) 16 seconds from the time i click until the song starts.   I only have 187 songs.  I have the 2G card that came with the phone.  And I drag and drop music from windows, I don't use any media player to manage it.

The included card is probably not very fast, which is why it takes so long.

Yes, a faster card can probably scan faster,

and your re-occuring scans are possibly an issue,
I know mine doesn't scan everytime I go into a different playlist.
And it doesn't even take 5 seconds to scan when it does.

Look for a Class 4 or Class 6 memory cards, I heard they read / write memory faster.

mine doesn't re-scan between playlists, but it seems to re-scan about 75% of the time i close and re-open the Music Player even though i haven't changed ANYTHING on the card at all...it's VERY annoying.  shouldn't the songs be cached and it only need to re-scan if something on the card changed?

I just got the phone and its literally scans it every time I open the player up, and since the scanning takes 30 seconds its not practical as a mp3 player...but thats good to know this is a card issue, I was thinking about getting a 8GB micro anywho.

btw, when i say "scan", i really mean "Updating Music"...the actual scanning only takes seconds, but the "Updating Music" takes ~10 minutes even though i haven't changed ANYTHING on the card at all.

Still might be the card or something with the tags.  I have a ton of music on my hi speed 8 gig and update takes maybe 8 secs at the most.  I also use media monkey to make sure all my tags are up to date and clean

@DraztikRhymez

what do you tag?  ie, artist, track #, track name, album, etc.

i embed the album art into my MP3's, which may have something to do with it.

Yes he means id3 tags. They have most the influence on your scan speed, (not including card class) and the album art thing is probably hurting. lol. i used a multiple tag editor and erased most info.

I tag all the info I can: artist, track name, album, album artist and embed the album art.  Just have to make sure you are getting a good clean when you erase all id3 tags and then re-tag them with a good tagging program.  Also, i noticed if you want all your songs on your phone to be organized by album too, u'll need to make sure you have "artist & album artist" exactly the same for the album in your tags.  So if there is another artist featured on a track you'll have to either leave them off or put them in the title of the song: "Title ft artist name"
